I am trying to find any connections to John Douglas COLEMAN -
he is my great grandfather - he was born 18 March 1850 at Sydney and died
26 Sept 1888 - he married Catherine GRANT at Sydney 28 April 1871.
Very little is known about John and Catherine so any information would be
appreciated and I will gladly swap what I have.
Many thanks

Cathy,
I plan to make a trip to the courthouse myself in the near future. I was
wondering if you could post for us what records are available there now and
how far back they go. I know the courthouse burned a few years ago (my
brother helped fight the fire) and I have been putting off going until
everything is completed and available.
Thank you,
Betty Wingo

Below is four generations of my family, starting with the earliest known
individual. I have come across information regarding an allied family
that has led to the conclusion about John COLEMAN who married Frances
HARRIS in Warren Co., NC. If anyone has any information that might find
a connection to either of the Robert Coleman families, or a correction,
please feel free to let me know.
Also the information regarding 2. William Coleman is drawn from
information in Barbour Co. AL records where three of his nephews went to
live. It may be because William had already moved there shortly around
the 1840 census. This part of Barbour Co.,AL would eventually form
Bullock Co. in 186(1)? around the Midway area.
Thanks for any leads or corrections and for posting this on the list.

I have this wee bit of information on the Coleman Family. My g. grandmother
Ellinora (Ellen) Beasley was first married to a Coleman and they had the
following three children: William Coleman, born abt. 1845. Mary Coleman born
abt. 1847 and Martha Coleman born abt 1849. May have been born in SC. or MS.
If anyone can place the father of these children, please contact me. Thanks

Looking for info regarding where the COLEMAN comes from in the name of my
great grandmother, Rachael Moranda LEWIS COLEMAN BRIGHT PARKER, who was last
married to my great grandfather, Spencer B. PARKER, prior to that to Wesley
BRIGHT and she was the biological daughter of John LEWIS, son of Howell LEWIS
and either Carrie KNIGHT or Harriet ELLZEY.....and when she married both
Wesley BRIGHT and Spencer B. PARKER she used the named Moranda COLEMAN....was
COLEMAN another husband or a stepfather/adopted father. My last information
on her as a child shows her at 9 years of age with her father, John LEWIS and
wife, Harriet ELLZEY. This was in the mid-1800's in KY and then she lived in
MS where my grandmother, Allie Artmissa PARKER was born: 1892-1894.
Spencer B. PARKER was the son of Jerry PARKER and Sarah 'Sally' JENNINGS, dau
of Kitty EARLE who married Bailey JENNINGS, b: abt. 1789, md in 1811 in
Christian Co., KY,
If you have any information regarding this I would be most grateful.
Sincerely,

I would have to question any reference to Broderbund CD191 or Family Tree
Maker. This organization is a money making organization and does not check
any of its sources but it does copy right anything that anyone send to them
for their own purposes. Be sure to read the small print before giving your
hard worked research to them unless you want someone else to make money off

Hi List,
I am still seeking the burial place of my gr-gr-grandfather, James G.
coleman, father of Franklin Webstr Coleman and grandfather of Ben Coleman. I
have been told that he was buried at Fort Graham Cemetery in Hill County but
he is not on the list of people buried there. He probably died in the late
1890's. Any help will be appreciated.
Also, I would like to know where I can purchase a copy of a book written
about 20 years ago entitled "From the Dust of Wagon Wheels" about the
settlers at Fort Graham. I have been told it was written by Theryl Lee
Sensing Penny of Hillsboro.
I would love to have a copy of the book because most of my ancestors who
migrated to Texas settled near there.
Thank you,
Betty Wingo, Crowley, Texas
Information from a well researched book written by my cousin: Clayton
Worden Coleman on the Coleman Family written in 1987 and updated more
recently.
Nathaniel Coleman b.about 1712 in Wethersfield, CT died 16 April 1767.
He married 1. Ruth Beadle on 19 Jan 1744 and 2. Comfort Loveman on 23
Nov. 1752.
He was the son of Leiut. John Coleman b. 11 April 1669 in Hatfield MA.
and Hanna Wright who was the dau. of James Wright and Dorcas Weede.
Leiut. John Coleman was the son of Deacon John Coleman b.abt. 1635 in
England and Hannah Porter the dau. of John Porter and Anna White. Deacon
John Coleman and Hannah Porter were married on 29 May 1663 in Windsor
Township, Hartford Ct. Hannah was born on 4 Sept 1642 in Windsor
Township and was slain by Indians on 19 Sept 1677 in Hatfield. Deacon
John was one of the first settlers in Hadley, Mass. about 1660. By 1668
he had settled across the Connecticut River in Hatfield. Deacon John
died 21 Jan. 1711 in Hatfield, MA.
Deacon John Coleman was the son of Thomas Coleman born abt. 1598 in
Evesham, Worchestershire, England. He migrated with his wife and son
John to MA and was one of the first settlers of Wethersfield, Ct. in
1636.
I am descended from:
1. Thomas Coleman b. abt. 1598 and unknown wife
2. Deacon John Coleman b. abt. 1635 and Hannah Porter
3. Lieut. John Coleman b. 11 April 1669 and Hannah Wright
4. John Coleman Jr. b. 12 May 1698 and Comfort Robbins b. 8 Dec. 1699
5. Thomas Coleman b. 28 May 1737 and Anna Shaylor b. abt. 1744
6. Darius Coleman baptized 18 Aug. 1779 and Sally Northrup b.abt. 1792
7. Melinda Coleman b. 28 Feb. 1818 and Dr. Adonijah Stansbury McClure b.
1817
8. Mary E. McClure b. 8 Oct. 1846 and John H. Bach. b.19 Feb. 1856
John Bach and Mary McClure were my great grand parents.
Thomas Coleman b. 1737 moved to Bradford County, PA with some of his
children: Darius, Reuben L., Elijah, and Sarah Ann who married Joseph
Browing. Some family members lived in Bradford County and others just
across the border in Susquehanna County, PA.
I hope this helps some of the CT and PA Coleman researchers.

I have a Nathaniel Coleman in my family tree he is the son of Lieut.
John Coleman and Hannah Wright. He was born abt. 1712 in Wethersfield,
CT and died on 16 April 1767. Nathaniel married (1) Ruth Beadle on 19
January 1744 and (2) Comfort Loveman on 23 Nov. 1752. I don't show
your Nathaniel, but the Nathaniel Coleman above is the brother of my
ancestor and I do not have any other information on his lineage. If you
would like more information on my Coleman line, please visit my website
