I am still searching for a James Coleman who could have been the father of
James Coleman who shows up in Knoxville, TN in 1830. I am eliminating all
possibilities.
With that background in mind - - is anyone familiar with James Coleman and
Sarah Taylor who married in Orange County, VA about 1780? Their children
were born in Orange Co., VA: Edward, Spilsby, James, Mary, Lucinda, Sarah,
and Catherine. At sometime the family moved to Woodford Co., KY. Does
anyone know anything about the son, James? Did he go to KY? Who did he
marry?
I appreciate any information. Thanks, Linda Coleman

My COLEMAN is Jame Abraham or Abraham James who came to the US from England
(possibly London) and settled in Chicago. There is suspicion that he may
have had some Jewish ancestry but it's unknown at this time. The family
thinks he changed the order of his name to "hide" that fact. However, I am
pursuing all angles and would like to find any and all ancestors. James was
born in Feb 1887 and died 12 Feb 1955 in Chicago, IL. He married Dora Tope
Courtier (also from England) in 1916 in Chicago. Any info would be much
appreciated.

Looking for connections with my grandfather Peter J. COLEMAN. He came to

According to his November 25, 1936, application for social security account
Peter Joseph COLEMAN was born in Ireland March 28, 1883, his parents were

Pa.
Peter's parents were John J. COLEMAN and Winifred COLEMAN (maiden and married
name alike); John J. COLEMAN parents were Patrick COLEMAN and Margaret
MELVIN. Peter J. COLEMAN married Nellie CURRAN CORBETT of Wilkes Barre, PA

Chris,
I will be glad to look them up for you if your not in a hurry for it. I plan
on going to the library next week. Just give me all the info you can on them
and what records you want me to check out for you. The more info the better
it is to narrow down.
Paula (Coleman)
New? I've always gotten them that way. Did you change to a new browser
perhaps?

Anyone have access to either "Genealogy of William Coleman of
Gloucester, Mass., and Gravesend, England, 1619-1906" by James Cash
Coleman or "Coleman Family History" by Marvel Simpson?
If so, would greatly appreciate it if you could check to see if either
book lists an Emory Coleman born about 1809 in new York. Emory's father
was Thomas, who married a widow Nelson. Emory's sons were Henry (my
great-grandpa), Samuel, Edwin and Asaph. Emory's brothers were Samuel
and Henry.
Appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance,

Not sure if this will help but I also subscribe to KYBOURBON & KYROOTS. On
one of those lists there is someone researching the McDANIELs, who has done
extensive work on the family. Since that is not my family, it escapes me
who the person is, but perhaps if you signed on to the Kentucky lists you
could find the answer you are seeking.

I am looking for parents, siblings, and descendants of Edwin Coleman
and Mary E. Wrather Coleman. I know very little about my great great
grandfather's family, except my direct line.
Edwin Coleman (b. August 12, 1823 in VA, d. June 21, 1847 in
Rutherford Co.) married Mary E. Wrather (b. February 14, 1831 in TN,
d. May 1, 1910) on June 21, 1847, in Rutherford Co., TN.
Their children: Adolphus, Amaziah, Cora Coleman (m. (Male) Johnson),
Della Coleman, John Harris Coleman (b. abt. 1860, m. Sarah (last
name?), Lunsford Alexander Coleman (my great grandfather) (b. abt.
1868, d. June 22, 1913, married Mattie Dunn Grigsby, (after Mattie's
death, married again), Julia A. R. Coleman (b. December 16, 1848, d.
February 18, 1916), William Bell Coleman (b. November 19, 1850,
married Dollie Ann Barnes), and Robert A. Coleman (b. February 6,
1859, married Ida Fly September 1882).
I would love to know more about this part of my family and hope to
meet some descendants. Our branch still has many descendants living
in and around Rutherford County, TN.
Thanks! Reba Jones
Hello All,

match them as brothers to Nancy.
Well, this is all I know about my ggg grandmother, Nancy Coleman McDaniel.

Hi Dona,
My Coleman family resided in Yell Co., Arkansas and I have the Arkansas 1850
Census Every-name Index. I looked in this book for your McDaniel family. I
searched for a child named Hampton Coleman McDaniel and/or a household with
a wife of Nonie J. (Coleman) McDaniel. There are 54 McDaniel families
listed and I could not identify a family with either of those names listed.
There are also 20 McDaniel individuals/families residing with others. Your
names aren't among those twenty either.
Additionally, I don't recognize the Nonie J. Coleman name among my Colemans.
Sorry I couldn't help.
Good Luck........... Earlene

I'm hoping some new "cousins" have come to the list since the last time I
posted. Still seeking info on Obediah COLEMAN b. abt 1811 and Carmella
Lucinda WILLIFORD or WILLAFORD.They were in Flat Creek Bedford Co, TN in
the 1830'S. Had three son's: Will, b. abt 1834, Thomas(my line) b. 1836
and Joseph b. 1838/9.Carmella was pregnant with Joseph when Obediah died
of yellow fever in 1838 while rafting horses down the Mississippi River
to New Orleans. Family records say Obediah was born in Flat Creek, TN and
is decended from one of seven Coleman brothers who settled in the Flat
Creek area abt.1809/10. Carmella Lucinda was born in VA.Seeking info on
their birth dates, and their parent names. Carmella "bonded " her sons to
neighbors. Thomas was bonded to the McKnight family. Thomas went to IL
after the Civil war and married Emily Kimmel. Does any of this story ring
a bell with anyone out there? Will be glad to share what I have on the
Thomas Fletcher COLEMAN and Emily KIMMEL family. Barb in FL

I am a Baseball Historian & am trying to find a former major leaguer John
Coleman. John Coleman played with his brother (?) R(obert) Coleman on the
local Bristol,Pa team for at least a few years in the early 1890s. This I
found in the Philadelphia Inquirer boxscores. In the 1880 census in Bristol
there was a big family living on a farm with a John and a Robert Coleman.
This could be them. Not in the 1900 census in Bristol. Anyone know about
this family?
