Hello All,
Through the "magic" of this Coleman board, I was recently able to
connect with a researcher looking for descendants of the Valentine
Kohlmann/Coleman family that came to Pennsylvania circa 1753
(technically it's my husband's line, but I'm the researcher). I'm
posting this information in the hopes of finding even more connections.
My husband's line is as follows:
James Palm (b. MI)
Richard Palm (b. Waldo, Marion, OH) & Margaret W.
Hazel Smith (b. Waldo, Marion, OH) & Eldon Palm
Eva Whiteman (b. Waldo, Marion, OH) & Henry Smith
Catherine Coleman (christened near Waldo, Marion, OH) & Francis Whiteman
Valentine Coleman (b. 1788, York, PA) & Eva Schultz
Valentine Coleman (b. Lancaster, PA) & Magdalena ___(He was a
Revolutionary War veteran)
Valentin Kohlmann & Barbara Schmitz (from Germany via Rotterdam in 1753)

I am trying to locate the "children" of ROBERT COLEMAN & ANN (HINTON) of
Amelia Co., VA. Robert was b c 1710 and was the son of WILLIAM COLEMAN and
FAITH (GODFREY). There was a CHRISTOPHER COLEMAN, a PHILLIP COLEMAN, and ABNER
COLEMAN and I believe more. Particularly looking for the "daughters" of the
above couple, ie LUCY. Some families associated with these COLEMANS were
HINTON, DRAPER. Any type of documentation would be of some help. Robert
Coleman moved from Amelia Co. to Lunenburg Co., and then to Union District,
SC.

Thanks Paula,
I'll file this info away in case I come up with more of my own.

Hi all,
Just got a lead from one of my cousins via my mother, now I'm not sure
where to take it.
All this time, I've been looking for Thomas Nelson COLEMAN's family in
Illinois. Turns out they were from Ohio and, before that, Virginia:
1st Generation:
Thomas COLEMAN, b. abt. 1810-1825 in Virginia, d. unknown. Married (1)
unnamed (2) Jane ???. Thomas was a grocer and married to Jane at the
time of the 1860 Ohio census.
Child of Thomas & his first wife:
George W. Coleman
Child of Thomas & Jane:
Frank Coleman
2nd Generation:
Frank COLEMAN, b. 10 March 1851 in Columbus, OH; d. 27 February 1931.
Married Mary A. POUNDS before 1878, daughter of Mathias & Jane POUNDS.
Children of Frank and Mary:
Clara Coleman, b. bef 1878, died unknown
Thomas Nelson Coleman
3rd Generation:
Thomas Nelson COLEMAN, b. 22 July 1878 in Arthur, Douglas Co., IL; d. 21
November 1948 in Twin Falls, Twin Falls Co., ID. He married Nettie May
BELL 1899 in Cedar Rapids, IA, daughter of William BELL and Annette
MUNSON.
Please, if any of this sounds familiar, let me know. It will at least
give me a start. The worst part is, all this time that I have been on
the list, and I haven't saved anything about *Virginia* or *Ohio*
Colemans! <sigh>
Thanks for any help that comes my way.

Hello COLEMAN Researchers,
I'm seeking any information concerning the COLEMAN'S of MOBJACK BAY. I
have looked at the library in Indianapolis but didn't find any material
in regard to MOBJACK BAY. I have been told by some other COLEMAN
researchers that my COLEMAN line probably relates to this group of
COLEMANS.
Rebecca COLEMAN was my gr gr grandmother. She married James JONES 1819
in Mason County, Ky. I have the marriage bond which was signed by her
father being Daniel COLEMAN. Daniel was probably living during the time
when Ky. was still Kentucky County, Va. I am trying to trace my COLEMAN
family on back & want to find the family of this Daniel COLEMAN with
dau. Rebecca. I don't have a birth date or location for Rebecca.
Thanks in advance for any help with my COLEMAN search.

Katrina,
My Coleman's can be traced back to the following locations: Nodaway C. Mo.,

They came from Germany or Holland to Pa. in 1700's went to Oh. in early
1800's. then to Ill. 1850 then to Mo. 1855.
I know that their relatives lived all over the state of Ohio. There maybe a
connection, however, the names of your Coleman's have not come up in my line
so far.
My line:
John b. late 1700's and Margaret (Savage) Coleman
children:
Asa
Nancy (Hormel)
John
Joseph
Josiah b. 1816
Idon't know John or Joseph's childrens name yet. But Asa and Josiah did not
have a Thomas or Frank.
(sibblings of John Coleman, the father, were, Joseph Jr. Nathan, James, Mary
(Enoch), Abigail)
Let me know if you need more info. I will keep your E-mail in case the names
of your Coleman's come up in my search.

The first five chapters of "The Coleman Family" by the
American Genealogical Research Institute, formerly of Arlington, VA
have been scanned and converted to ASCII text and is available on my
site at:
http://ro.com/~coleman/genealogy.htm
I have a new site index and online site search which includes indexing
this reference as well as two other good reference works for early
Colemans:
The Robert Coleman Family - From Virginia to Texas 1652-1965
by J. P. Coleman, 51st governor of the state of Mississippi.
Notes on the Coleman Family of Virginia
by Judge S. Bernard.

Hi!
I am looking for information about my Coleman ancestor James O. Coleman,
born 6-12-1777. According to the 1850 Census he was born in VA, BUT my
family, and some historical accounts, state he was born in PA. I believe
present day western PA was part of VA for a time. Does anyone know which
counties? I also have never paid attention to any of the postings
concerning VA Colemans, but now I must ask if anyone studying the VA
Coleman's has my John listed! His wife was Lucy Ohio Hawkins, b. 2-15-1787
on the Ohio River, KY. They went to Hopkinsville, Christian County, KY,
lived a long life, had tons of kids and died in the 1850's and 1860's. If
anyone studying the VA Colemans has my John, I would love an email! Thanks
everyone!!!!!!!!!!!
