Here is data from Census Index Books for Colemans in the
1820 and 1830 U.S. Census of Alabama. I have most of the
Colemans in the 1850 U.S. Census of Alabama on my website
and am working on completing the OCR of the 1870 listing, but
it is too small, and I am actually typing in most of the data as
corrections to the OCR package.

I have posted this previously, but since it has been a while I will do it
again. I'm still looking for any infomation about the father of my g-g-g-
grandmother,William Coleman, who according to family legend may have been born
in Newark, New Jersey. He evidently moved to Berks County, Pennsylvania,
probably in the vicinity of Reading before the Revolutionary War broke out, as
he served in the Berks County, PA, militia during the war. Also this is
reportedly where Nancy, my g-g-g-grandmother was born. We've been unable to
find any information about any of the family except John W., his daughter
Phoebe, and Nancy. I'm hoping there is another Coleman descendant tracing the
same line. Thank you in advance for any help you can give. I will be glad to
exchange information and sources with you.

Dear List Owner:
List members, please pardon me for posting this to the list. I am sorry to
post this a second time, but I am still getting the Coleman list.
I am having major e-mail software problems, the summary of which is that my
outgoing mail is going through my IO provider so Rootsweb can't unsubscribe
me through my Worldnet address.
Could you remove me manually please? Within the next few days, I will be
leaving Worldnet (through which I am receiving your list) and I don't want
to give you bounced messages. I am subscribed under:
Aslanite(a)worldnet.att.net
or, if that doesn't work, try: Aslanite(a)postoffice.worldnet.att.net
Please don't resubscribe me to the new address on this note. I am
recovering from a car accident and am not supposed to be using the computer
so I would be unable to read the mail.
Thank you. And thank you for your work to maintian this list and to the
list members for their indulgence
Happy Hunting.

I am so sad to learn about the death of Mike Cloyd. In Sept. 1996 my
husband and I moved to northwest IA. Mimi called me 5 days later and
we had a wonderful telephone visit and discovered one line that she
and Mike worked on that connects to my lineage. Through the last few
months, other lines became apparent as Mike and I enjoyed exchanging
information both by snail mail and e-mail. He was a great genealogist
and will be missed by all.

I've run into a problem with my Coleman line. Hopefully someone out
there can help me!
John COLEMAN, b. 1723, Spotsylvania Co, VA, d. 17 March 1762, Spots., VA
m. Eunice (Nicie) HAWES, before 1744, Caroline Co, VA
Their children:
i. Frances (Frankey) COLEMAN, b. Dec. 1744, VA
m. Joseph GRAVES
ii. Mary Ann COLEMAN, b. c1748, VA
m. William BLAYDES
iii. Samuel COLEMAN, b. c1749, VA
m. Sarah (Sally) COLEMAN
iv. Sarah COLEMAN, b. c1750, VA
v. John COLEMAN, b. 1753, VA
m. Molly COLEMAN, m.2nd Lucy CHILES
vi. Hawes COLEMAN, b. 1757, VA
m. Anne HARRIS
vii. Spencer COLEMAN, b. c1759, VA
m. Elizabeth Garland GOODWIN
My problem is the parents of John COLEMAN(Sr.). "Wingfield's History of
Caroline Co, VA" states John Coleman's parents as Robert COLEMAN and
Elizabeth LINDSAY. Also, "Marriages of Some VA Residents, 1607-1800"
states John COLEMAN b. 1723 d. 1763, son of Robert and Elizabeth
(Lindsay); m. Eunice Hawes.
However, I downloaded a GEDCOM file from the Family History Center which
states John's parents as Robert COLEMAN and Mary CLAYTON, with the
Robert Coleman who married Elizabeth Lindsay being John's brother. I
tend to think this is false, but I'm now confused. With all the Robert
COLEMAN's in Caroline Co, VA, it does get confusing. If someone has
this line straight, please let me know.
Thanks, Allison Patterson
Hello All,
I am sorry to inform you of the death of one of our list members, Mike
Cloyd. He passed away Saturday from an apparent heart attack while
golfing. Mike was a young vibrant person, and we will miss him.
I enjoyed talking to Mike to our local DAR library where he and his wife,
Mimi, were the volunteer librarians. Though we did not seem to share any
common Coleman's, we kept looking for some thread that would connect.
It is my understanding that as of today Mimi has not accessed Mike's
e-mail, nor does she intend to do so. If anyone would like her snail mail
address, please let me know.
Aloha, Cheryl Malo
