I need help in finding the parents and siblings of LINDSEY COLEMAN
b 1803, Va. He married Paulina Watkins b 1804, believed to be daughter
of John and Nancy Watkins of Culpepper, Va. LINDSEY COLEMAN and wife
later moved to the counties of Warren, Wilson, and Cannon, Tenn. Here
they had abt eight of their twelve known children. They were in Ky. by
1850, where they remained. Would love to have any leads on LINDSEY
COLEMAN. Hope to hear from someone who has come across this name in
your own research.

Hi, I am new to the list. I would like to know if anyone has any information
regarding Elizabeth COLEMAN b. 1832, Wayland, Michigan and d. 1916 - Age 84.
She married Oren Wesley KOON who was b. 1830 Orange, N.Y. and d. 1916. They
may have died in Illinois because I know that they moved there and had a
family in Illinois. I hope someone can help me. Thank you in advance for
your time.

ISAAC COLEMAN WAS MY GREAT-GREAT GRANDFATHER. HE WAS MARRIED TO AMELIA
PENDERGRASS ABOUT 1828. THEY HAD SEVEN CHILDREN ( 4 GIRLS , 3 BOYS) THEY WERE
OCTAVIA, LAURETTA, MATILDA, ROSA, JOHN , RICHARD AND THOMAS. IT HAS BEEN
SAID THAT ISAAC MARRIED AGAIN AFTER AMELIA DIED. IF ANYONE HAS INFORMATION
AND ARE WILLING TO SHARE IT CONCERNING THIS FAMILY, IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
I AM NEW AT THIS AND FAILED TO PROVIDE LOCATIONS. EXCUSE THE ERROR.
I DON'T KNOW WHERE ISAAC WAS BORN, HOWEVER THE FAMILY WAS DEFINITELY,
AT SOME TIME, IN SOUTH CAROLINA (USA) AND LATER MY GREAT GRANDFATHER,
THOMAS POPE COLEMAN, JOINED THE CONFEDERACY FROM GEORGIA.
You don't mention where but there is an Absolum Melton Coleman
married to Lucy Hudson Brooks in the text of J. P. Coleman's book
which you can download from the mobley site. I have a link to it on
http://ro.com/~coleman/genealogy.htm
Look for The Robert Coleman Family from Virginia to Texas, 1652-1965.
Lines 16727, 16739, and 16758 mention him and the second one
mentions his wife, Lucy Hudson Brook married on October 18.
I can forward the text if you can't go online to get it. Prior posts here
mentioned where you could buy the book from and I placed that info
out on the web page below for everyone's reference as well.

Hullo fellow researchers,
My paternal grandfather John Charles Coleman was born June 8, 1873 in
Buninyong (near Ballarat) Victoria, Australia to mother Mary Coleman (no
father listed on birth certificate). Other siblings may have been George
Thomas born 1868 and William born 1878. John Charles Coleman married Mary
Ann Wilson on September 17, 1894 at Camperdown, Victoria and their surviving
children were William John,
George Harold, John Charles, Nellie and Ernest Ralph. Would be interested
in any information about John Charles Coleman and his parent's background
which could include the family REDFERN.

Hi All
I would be interested to hear from anyone researching a COLEMAN family
in the Rotheram area of Yorkshire. I'm researching Robert Coleman
(b.1870) who married Mary Ellen Berry ( b.1873) in June 1889 in
Rotheram. Their children were George Henry b.1892, Nellie b.1895,
Robert b.1901, Jessie Alexandra b.1903, William b.1905, John b.1907,
Frederick Cody b.1909, Archie Thomas b.1911, Eric Ivan b.1913 and
Adelaide Louise b.1915. There may also be other children that I don't
know of as yet. If anyone out there is connected with this family,
please let me know. Thanks.

Hello Coleman researchers!
I had a friend of mine who was temporarily living in Richmond, VA,
photocopy all the Coleman's names that were listed in the fourteen volumne
book set of all the soldiers and sailors who served for the Confederacy. I
am making myself available to do lookups. Please allow up to a week for me
to get to your email because I am working full time, going to college and
am a Mr. Mom! But I am willing to do them. The list has the persons name,
state and unit. I believe the state refers to where the unit was from, not
the individual. Some of your Coleman ancestors may have crossed state
lines to enlist, especially if they were from the border states that went
over to the Union. Some of the names are full names and some are
abbreviations or just initials. I will give you all available
possibilities with what you give me. I ask that you either give me a name
or a state and then I can list out for you what I have. I estimate there
are over 1,500 names! Lot of Colemans wore the grey! (or blue of the
navy!)

Researching Surnames Alley, Arms, Campbell, Coleman,
Eddy, Fairall, Holliday, Hudgens, Lowe, Price and
Williams.
Am currently "attempting research" on COLEMAN ancestors which are on both my
father and mother's side of the family. Am relatively new at this research.
Would be very interested in any links or info anyone may have. Some
ancestor names include William c. 1680 (Orange Co, NY from England) Peter
Coleman (jr & sr - NY-NC-VA-KY) and David (Dave) Coleman (KY-IN-MO-KY) who
lived to be 104 years old and who grew up with Jessie & Frank James and Cole
(COLEMAN) Younger in MO. Looking forward to hopefully hearing from you.
Thanks a lot

Tracing descendants of Patrick Coleman/Margaret or Catherine Melvin from
County Mayo (poss Lochmoor Village). My grandfather Peter J. Coleman
accompanied his mother Winifred Coleman and his brothers David and
John :sisters Jennie (Jane), Agnes, Minnie, Mary, Annie, Cecila. Arrived in
New York, April 1895 when Peter J. was 12 years old. Some of family went to
Scranton, PA and settled while some of the sisters settled in Montana and New
York. Brother John settled in Chicago were he died in early 1900's.
Any and all help greatly appreciated.

There is probably a connection to the Coleman's in J. P. Coleman's book
since he was governor of Mississippi and documented a number of Coleman's
by this name. The closest is in the excerpt below.
Have you tried using the U.S. Census for 1860. This could list his parents.
Hopefully, you could find the parents in J. P.'s book. I once read the Census
rolls for a particular county of Tennessee in 1880 and found the people I
was trying to locate and I was delighted. Admittedly, this is work, but the
sense of accomplishment is proportional to the amount of work involved to
achieve it.
Good Luck.

TABLE OF DESCENDANTS
ISAIAH DANIEL COLEMAN, SON OF ALLEN COLEMAN AND
SARAH COLEMAN
I. MARRIED, first, AGNES FERGUSON, Who was born in 1815,
died November 1, 1847, age 32, and is buried in the Allen Coleman
burying ground, 3.3 miles East of Blackstock, S. Carolina.
Children of this marriage:
1 & 2. Twin children, who were born and died September 10,
1839. Buried beside their mother.
3. Sarah Allen, born June 21, 1842, died March 10, 1921.
Married Andrew Jackson Prewitt, September 23, 1863.
Buried beside her husband, Mt. Mosiah Cemetery, near
French Camp, Choctaw County.
4. William Charles, 20 Miss., C.S.A., born December 6, 1843,
died November 23, 1927. Buried, Concord Cemetery.
5. Mollie S., born June 3, 1845, died March 13, 1925. Married
J. J. Woodward. Buried beside her husband, Bethsalem, ten
miles south of Ackerman, Mississippi.
(Her birth-date appears on the tombstone as June 3, 1843.
This was an obvious conflict with birth date of William
Charles. The Winston Census of 1860 listed her as 15 years
of age. So we use the year 1845. )

THE ROBERT COLEMAN FAMILY
II. MARRIED, second, on September 2, 1852, HARRIET DAVIS.
Children of this marriage:
1. Jacob Feaster Coleman, born Sunday, August 7, 1853, Chester
County, S. C. (border of Fairfield, 3.3 miles east of Blackstock).
Died, Ackerman, Mississippi, July 19, 1934. Buried, Enon
Cemetery, Ackerman, Mississippi.
(Tombstone erroneously states birth year as 1854).
2. Allen Jones Coleman, born October 21, 1854, died June 2, 1855.
3. Daniel Isaiah Coleman, born July 7, 1856, died January 27,
1857.
4. Isaiah Davis Coleman, born December 26, 1857, died August
29, 1859.
(These three children must have been buried near where I. D.
Coleman first lived in Winston County. Graves so far unlocated.)
5. Henry Jonathan (who later changed his name to John Henry),
born October 16, 1859, died February 19, 1934. Buried, South
Union Cemetery, west of Ackerman, Mississippi.
6. Laura Eugenia, born September 22, 1864, died April 2, 1939.
Married Rufus Bruce, July 14, 1886. He died January 11, 1904.
She is buried in Concord Cemetery.
Thus it is seen that Daniel Coleman was the father of eleven
children, five by the first wife, six by the second, and only six
of them lived to maturity.
