William H. Colgrove
AIKEN, SC -- William Henry Colgrove of
Aiken, S.C. passed away May 5, 2017 at
91 years. He was born on March 25, 1926
in Hammond Indiana to the late William
and Grace Colgrove. William is survived
by his lovely wife Alice Kathryn Col-
grove whom he married on July 16, 1950.
This year would have marked their 67th
year as a couple. William is also
survived by his siblings: Patricia (Ted)
Fike and Rec Colgrove. He was preceded
in death by his sibling Roy who died in
infancy, and a sister June Geiselman.
William is survived by his 3 children:
Craig William (Geri) Colgrove, Diana Col-
grove (Ray) Hannah and Donald Alan
(Melissa) Colgrove. He also had 7 grand-
children: Matthew Colgrove, Nathan Col-
grove, Sonya Cober, Jessica Hannah, Rachel
Wolfe, Alan Colgrove and Addison Colgrove.
Bringing additional joy to their life was
6 great-grandchildren: Daisey Colgrove,
Sam Colgrove, Elizabeth Colgrove, Sofi
Cober, Charlie Cober, and Hannah Grace
Colgrove.
William left Peru High School to join
the army to be a cryptographer in WWII
reaching the rank of sergeant. He was
honorably discharged to attend Purdue
University and obtain a degree in
Botany. Following that he worked for
Morton Salt before working for Dow
Chemical for 29 years. He retired from
Midland Michigan and moved to Winter
Haven, Florida in 1990 before moving to
Aiken South Carolina in 2011. William
enjoyed being a Mason and in addition was
a proud member of the Shriners.
A private memorial service will be held
by family at a later date.

Ethyl Colgrove will be conducted Friday at 8 p.m.
in Land Funeral Chapel in Gulfport, where friends
may call from 7 until 10 p.m. Graveside services
will be held Tuesday at Greenlawn Cemetery in
Frankfort, Ind. Mrs. Colgrove, 89, widow of
Edwin F. Colgrove and a resident of 120 Vance
Place in Long Beach, died Wednesday at Miramar
Lodge Nursing home in Pass Christian. Born in
Joplin, Mo., she lived on the Coast for two and
half years with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Edward R. Millet. She was a member of
the First Christian Church of Frankfort, Ind.,
the Obiah Rebecca Lodge, Eastern Star, Auxiliary
of Railroad Train Men and the Odd Fellows, all
in Frankfort. In addition to her daughter, she
is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Ruth
Mellecker and Mrs. Ruby Peterson; one son Keith
Colgrove, all of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 13
grandchildren and nine Great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Robinson came to Bath as a
bride and has lived here for the
last 54 years. She was a member of
Central Congregational Church and
will be remembered also as a member
of the former Sans Souci club.
Surviving besides her husband is
one daughter, Mrs. William E. Hill
of Naugatuck, Conn., One sister,
Miss Frances Colgrove, one brother
Pitts Colgrove both of Minneapolis,
Minn., two grandsons, William E.

Perkins, 64, Diamond, died at 10:02
p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Regional
Medical Center, Joplin, after a
nine-month illness.
Mr. Perkins was born Jan. 5, 1928,
at Battlefield. He lived in the
Springfield area until 1991, when he
moved to Diamond. He was a retired
self-employed truck driver. He was
a member of Grandby Methodist Church
and the Masonic Lodge at Republic.
He married Hattie Colegrove on
March 28, 1978. She survives.
Additional survivors include two
daughter, Marilyn Sue Blewer,
Pierce City, and Sheree Lynn Estes,
Springfield; four grandchildren; and
a great-great grandson.
The body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m.
Tuesday at Grandby Methodist Church.
The Rev. Cliff McFarland will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction
of Clark Funeral Home, Grandby.

April 23, to E. D. Hornberger
of Fredonia, Kans., in a ceremony
at Huntsville Ark.

Ark.
Preceding the wedding, a
luncheon was held in their honor
at Millers cafe in Joplin.
Those attending the luncheon
were Mrs. Colegrove, E. D. horn-
berger, Mr and Mrs. Charles Dodd
and Everett Shelley.
After the wedding the party
enjoyed a dinner at Springdale,
Ark.
Mr. and Mrs. Hornberger are
residing on Route 5 for the
present time.

Gene Colegrove
Lewis Eugene "Gene" Colegrove, aged
92, Carl Junction, Mo., passed away
on Wednesday, Feb 20, 2013, at a
local nursing center. Gene was
born Jan. 4, 1921, in Wellsville,
Kan., son of the late Eli and Ona
Colegrove. He graduated from
Wellsville Hight School and joined
the United States Navy serving during
World War II. He returned to attend
Baker University in Baldwin, Kan.
His freshman English teacher was named
Betty and it was love at first sight.
They married on Aug 31, 1947, and
enjoyed 63 wonderful years together.
She passed away April 13, 2007.
Mr Colegrove was a longtime member
of Carl Junction Christian Church.
After graduation from Baker, Gene
worked for Honeywell in Kansas City
for the next 20 years. He then moved
to Joplin, where he worked for the
Joplin Globe from 1978 until retirement
in 2006.
In addition to his parents and wife,
Gene was preceded in death by his only
daughter, Gina Beth who was killed in
a tragic car accident in 1985; his
sister Faye; and Josh Brown.
Gene is survived by his beloved
friends, Barbara and Wes King, of Joplin;
Chris and Julie Brown of Columbus, Kan.;
Kyle and Tina King, of Jolin; Bryce and
Jessica Buergin of Columbus; Maddie
Buergin, Paizley Buergin and Braxtyn
Brown, all of Columbus; friends, Dan and
Kathy Holt and their family, of Alaska.
Graveside services with Military Honors
will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ozark
Memorial Park with Dennis Johnson
officiating. Pallbearers will be Kyle
King, Chris Brown, Bryce Buergin, Allen
Pruitt, Terry Green and Harold Doty,
will be an honorary pallbearer. The
family will receive friends from 1 to 2
p.m. Saturday at Parker Mortuary.

Lions softball team. She was an
accomplished pianist and majored
in physical education at MSSC,
where she was a sophomore. She
graduated from Carl Junction High
School in 1983. She was awarded
the best female Athlete award in
1983 from Carl Junction High.
She is survived by her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis E. Colegrove,
of the home; and maternal grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar F.

Baptist Church in Alfred Station
was the scene of a pretty summer
wedding, Sunday, Jul 10, at 3:00,
when Miss Mary Janice Colegrove,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Colegrove and Donald J. Wickwire,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wick-
wire of Corning, were united in
marriage by the Rev. Albert N.
Rogers.
The ceremony was performed
before a setting of white hydrangea
and blue delphinium with lighted
tapers in candlebra.
Mrs. Albert N. Rogers played
traditional wedding music prior to
the ceremony and a women's trio
composed of Mrs. Elmer A. Willard,
Mrs. Frank Snyder and Mrs. Robert
Lewis, sang "I love you Truly".
The bride given in marriage by
her father, wore a street length
dress of acqua, rayon taffeta with
white accessories. Her corsage
was pink roses.
Mrs. Merrill Seymore of Elmira,
a sister of the bridegroom, was the
attendant. She was attired in yellow
silk and wore a corsage of white
gardenias.
Mrs. Colegrove, mother of the
bride, chose a navy blue sheer.
Her hat and accessories were of
white gardenia and red roses. Mrs.
Wickwire chose a dress of pink
crepe and wore a white gardenia.
Merrill Seymore of Elmira acted as
best man.
A reception followed in the Church
parlors for the immediate families.
The bride's table was centered with
a three-tiered wedding cake topped
with the miniature bride and groom.
White tapers in crystal holders and
garden flowers completed the
decorations.
The couple left on a motor trip
after which they will be at home
in Alfred Station.
Mrs. Wickwire is a graduate of
Alfred-Almond Central School and
was recently employed by Loblaw's
in Hornell. Mrs. Wickwire is a
graduate of Corning High School and
is a student at Alfred University.
Guests were present from Corning,
Waverly, Athen's Pa., Friendship,
Waterford, Pa., Pine City, West
Almond and Alfred.

The remains of Benjamin Stratton
were brought here for burial
Monday from his home in Newark,
N. Y., where his death occurred
December 10th following a long
illness. Mr. Stratton was 51 years
of age, the son of Harvey and Sarah
Colegrove Stratton. He leaves his
wife and three children, also a
brother James Stratton who lives in
Rochester. Benjamin Colegrove of
this place is an uncle. The funeral
was held in Newark; the burial was
in Prattsburgh Rural cemetery where
his mother was buried.
