ERIE CALLS FOR HELP
IN CLEARING STREETS
------
(By The Associated Press)
The effects of Pennsylvania's
heaviest storm this winter were
still felt today as Erie's
mayor appealed to the State
Highway department for snow
fighting equipment to help clear
city streets and expedite ship-
ments of vital raw materials to
war plants. Mayor Charles R.
Barber said he acted at the
request of Army and Navy officials.
At Girard, Erie county, a High-
way Department snowplow was
called to clear a path for a funeral
director to call for the body of
Elmer J. Colegrove, 75, who died
Tuesday.
Reports of two additional deaths
brought the state toll from the
storm to eighteen.
