--A correspondent with the 122d regiment
at Sandusky, O., writes the following facts,
which are highly honorable to the patriotic
ladies of that city;
"Warren Colgrove, Co. C, 122d N. Y.
Volunteers, died on Thursday evening at the
St. Lawrence Hospital of typo-pneumonia
fever. The soldiers of his company subscribed
$140 for the purpose of defraying his funeral
expenses, but the noble and patriotic ladies of
Sandusky hearing of the contribution, immediately
raised a sufficient sum to meet the entire outlay
required in forwarding the body to the relatives,
and returned their hard-earned money, with
blessings for their generosity. The above is
but a fair specimen of the spirit of loyalty
animating the Union ladies of this most
hospitable city." -- Syracuse Journal.
The remains of the soldier referred to were
brought to this village where his friends reside,
and buried last week.
