grave in Oakwood Cemetery.
A retired farmer, Mr. Colgrove
was born in Rossburg in 1875
and was a farmer in the vicinity
of Nunda and Fillmore most of
his life. He had served as town
assessor for the past 20 years,
a post he held at the time of
his death. He also was a former
trustee of the village. He was
a member of Nunda Lodge of
Masons, the IOOF, the Rebakahs
and Ninda No. 4 Fire Company.
He leaves a widow, Mary; a
son Leon of Nunda.

Sergeant from Wayland
Dies in Prison Camp
Wayland -- Sgt. Keith Bartholomew,
who has been listed as missing since
the report received Mar. 12 following
action in Italy, died Mar. 14 in a
prison camp in Germany, according to
official notice from the War Depart-
ment to his bride, Mrs. Anna Belle
Colgrove Bartholomew.
The message came from the German
Government, having been transmitted
through the International Red Cross.
Mrs. Bartholomew has attempted for
several months to get some infor-
mation about her husband through the
Red Cross and other channels but this
message received about a week ago,
was the first to officially confirm
his death.
Sgt. Bartholomew was graduated
from Wayland High School and entered
the armed forces July 8, 1942. He
trained at Camp Gruber, Okla.
leaving there in July, he completed
three months training in Louisiana
and was then stationed at Fort Sam
Houston, Tex.
Shortly before going overseas, he
married Anna Belle Colgrove of
Springwater.
Surviving besides Mrs. Bartholomew
are a sister, Pvt. Mary McIntosh of
the Women's Army Corp; a brother,
Sgt. Wayne Bartholomew; two uncles,
Delbert and Arthur Bartholomew of
Wayland, and two aunts, Mrs. Carrie
Bennett of Wayland, and Mrs. Nora
Seymour of Rochester. His father
Borden Bartholomew died a year ago
and Mrs. Bartholomew a few months
before.
Memorial services will be held
Dec. 10 at 11 a. m. in Wayland
First Evangelical Church.

the bride of one of Canan-
daigua's outstanding young
fliers, Lt. Robert E. Col-
grove, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harlow F. Colgrove. His
bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Munson,
Reed Corners, formerly of
Canandaigua.
Vows were heard Oct. 10
by the Rev. Charles L.
Wallis, pastor of Canan-
daigua Baptist Church.
The bride wore a gown
of white French marquisette
with full skirt, an elbow-
length veil of illusion and
carried white roses. Her
only attendant was a cousin,
Miss Jeanne Munson, Canan-
daigua, whose gown was of
blue net with which she
carried a bouquet of
Pinocchio roses. Leon H.
Colgrove, Canandaigua, was
his brothers best man and
ushers were another brother,
Lawrence Colgrove and Robert
T. Munson, brother of the
bride.
The church service was
followed by a reception and
breakfast at Lake View Inn,
Canandaigua Lake, after
which the young couple left
for Tallahassee, Fla., where
Lt. Colgrove is an instructor
at Dale Mabry Field. He has
completed 162 flying missions
in 18 months of duty in the
Pacific war theater and has
been decorated with the
Distinguished Flying Cross
and Air Medal with three
Oak Lead clusters. He was a
student at the University of
Michigan when he enlisted in
the Army Air Corps. in 1941.
His bride attended Canan-
daigua Academy and Louisiana
Polytechnic Institute.

Hazel B. Colgrove, 87, of 146 Gardner
St., Fredonia, formerly of 32 Bank St.,
Wesfield, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday,
Feb. 2, 1982 in Brooks Memorial Hospital,
Dunkirk. She was the widow of Dexter
Colgrove, who died in 1964.
Mrs. Colgrove was a retired school
teacher. She was born Dec. 4 1894,
in Cherry Creek, a daughter of Bert
and Marcia Ellen Blodgett Bullock,
and had lived in Wesfield most of her
life.
She was a member of Westfield First
United Methodist Church, and New York
State Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are two nieces Marian
Scott of Pheonix, Ariz., and Betty
Moffett of Fredonia; and two nephews,
Robert Bullock of Fredonia and Bert
Bullock of Dunkirk.
She was preceded in death by a
sister, Mary Fleckenstein; and a
brother, Bernard Bullock.
The funeral was held Friday in
Barber Funeral Home, Westfield.
The Rev. Larry Baird of First United
Methodist Church officiated. Burial
will be in Westfield Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials may
be made to the Westfield First United
Methodist Church.

Death of Summerdale Woman.

Mrs. Milton Clark, who resided at
Summerdale for many years and was
well know by all in that vicinity,
died in the Buffalo insane asylum
last Wednesday morning, after an
illness of about a week, aged
seventy-four years. She had been
mentally unbalanced for some time
and although her daughters tried
to care for her it became necessary
to put her into an asylum. She
seemed to enjoy herself. The
remains were brought to the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Frank J. Russell
at Summerdale, where the funeral
was held Saturday, with birial at
Sherman. Besides Mrs. Russell she
is survived by another daughter,
Mrs. Gerry Colegrove, of Mayville,
and two sons, Fred Clark of Corap-
olis, Pa., and Leon Clark of
