MRS. SHARP
CALLED HOME
------
Prominent Woman Who Had Long
Been An Invalid Is Called
Home to God.
----
Mrs. Lottie Colgrove, wife of John
R. Sharp, who yielded to the inevitable
on Friday Morning, January 4, at 7:00
o'clock at her late home has entered
into the rewards of His own. Mrs.
Sharp had been an invalid for many
years, her condition becoming serious
on Tuesday, January 1st, from which
attack she could not rally. She was
the daughter of the late J. B. Colgrove
and was born in Buffalo, N. Y., fifty-
nine years ago, December 13th last.
She was married to John R. Sharp, June
22 1878, and came to this city in 1881.
To this union was born five children,
Horton, James, Ann Laura, John R., Jr.,
and Stewart. Horton and James proceeded
Mrs. Sharp years ago, and she is sur-
vived by her mother, Mrs. Laura M.
Colgrove, three sisters, Mrs. H. C.
Stephens, Mrs. A. W. English, and Mrs.
Hord Sharp, all of Sharpsburg, by her
attentive and devoted husband and three
children, Mrs. J. B. Meacham, of
Mississippi; John R., Jr., Atlanta, Ga.,
in training for the trenches, and
Stewart, of this city.
From early childhood she had been a
member of the Presbyterian church.
Funeral services were conducted at the
home by Dr. M. V. P. Yeaman Monday
afternoon, the 7th at 1:30 o'clock,
and burial was in Machpelah cemetery.
The kindred present from out of the
city were John R. Sharp Jr., Mrs. H. C.
Stephens and Mrs. Hord Sharp, Mrs. A.
W. English being detained at home due
to the feeble condition of her mother.
Of this superior woman whom we have
known from young womanhood, we could
much; amiable, modest, cultured and
sweet spirited. When in health it
was her joy to contribute of her
happiness to the pleasure of others,
and every impulse was elevating
inspiring to lofty ambitions. Hers
was one of the faultless church
characters, through ndverse to show,
from a heart of love, she gladly
administered and when the long 13
years of invalid life took her
possession of her radiant sunshine
was veiled, because she could not
render helpful service. How encouraging
the preenher spoke of her faith. She
knew Him, His voice and followed where
He leadeth. Accepted of God there was
none that could pluck His own from Him.
She had enuse for neither doubt nor
fear for she knew in whom she trusted,
her's is a home in Heaven.
A home in heaven! Where our
Friends are tled,
To the cheerless gloom of the
monldering dead;
We wait in hope on the promise
given;
We will meet up there in our
home in heaven.
A home in heaven! When the wheel
is broke,
And the golden bowl - by the
terror stroke;
When life's bright sun sinks in
death's dark even,
We will then fly up to our home in
Heaven.
