CHARLES EDWIN BAKER
Charles Edwin Baker of Troupsburg
died, Friday afternoon, in St. James
hospital, Hornell, where he had been
a patient, suffering a cerebral
hemorrhage Monday, Aug. 8. He was
72 years old.
Mr. Baker was born in Greenwood,
the son of Milo and Eva Hill Baker,
Aug. 22, 1876. He was a cheesemaker
and prior to his illness was employed
as a conservation worker by the State
of New York. He was a member of
McClellan Lodge F. and A. M. of
Troupsburg and of Troupsburg
Rod and Gun club.
Surviving are: his widow, Mrs.
Regina Colegrove Baker; one stepson,
Reginald Baker; one daughter, Mrs.
Marian Dunham of Hunts; one son-in-
law, Stanley McCormack of Hornell;
one sister, Mrs. Agnes Conklin of
Newark Valley; nine grandchildren,
Merle, Ronald, Robert, Kenneth,
Thomas, Larry and Mary Frances
McCormack of Hornell, Shirley and
William Stiles of Westfleld, Pa.
The body was removed to the
home of David Colegrove, Troupsburg,
Sunday morning. Funeral services
were held from the Young Hickory
Baptist church, Monday afternoon,
Rev. B. J, Graces and Rev. M. P.
Wheeler officiating. Burial was in
Young Hickory cemetery.

EAST SPRINGWATER
Mrs.Alice M. Curtice passed away
very suddenly at her home in this
place early Saturday morning, January
26, 1935. Mrs. Curtice was as well as
usual and had attended an entertain-
ment at Springwater Friday evening.
Shortly after retiring for the night
she was stricken with a heart attack,
her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and
Mrs. Chas. Schwab, with whom she
resided immediately called a physician
who did all he could to relieve her,
but she lived only a short time. She
was the daughter of Harlow and
Lydia Colegrove and was born In
Canadice, August 29, 1869. On
June 20, 1880, she was united In
marriage with Chas, F. Curtice, of
Springwater, who passed away on
November 30, 1914.
She was a member of Springwater
Grange, No. 1245 and had lived In
Canadice and Springwater all her
life with the exception of three yrs.
spent in Rome, Mich.
She is survived by her daughter,
Mrs. Flora Schwab, a grandson,
Curtice Schwab of Rochester, three
brothers, Elmer and Charles Cole-
grove of Canadice, and Jothan
Colegrove of Rochester and several
nieces and nephews, two sisters
and one brother preceded her in
death.
She was very active for one of her
age and will be greatly missed in
her home and by a large circle of
friends.
Funeral services were held at the
home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock
with Rev. John L. Conklin, pastor
of the Advent Christian church of
Springwater officiating. Burial was
made in Mount Vernon Evergreen
Cemetery.
Much sympathy is extended to the
family in their bereavement.

Woodhull Statistics,
The population of the town of Woodhull is
2,20l; the oldest person. Mr. Levi Perry,
father of Nelson,Perry Esq., is 89 years
of age ; the oldest person in the village
is Mr. Geo. W Slocum, whose age is 87.
Mrs. Andrew Colegrove has been the mother
of 17 children, by one marriage, and they
have all lived to become married, with the
exception of the youngest daughter who is
now 19 years of age. Mr. Andrew Colegrove

Robert Colegrove.

Early Tuesday forenoon, while seated
in his chair, occurred the death of Robert
Colegrove, at his home in this village
He had been in feeble health for several
weeks, but was not considered seriously
ill. His death was therefore entirely
unexpected and was the result of heart
failure.
Mr. Colegrove was born in Jerusalem,
Yates county, February 24, 1832, and
came to Hammondsport from Prattsburgh
about ten years ago. He was
twice married here, first to the widow
of the late Thomas Gardner of Wheeler,
who died a few years since, and later to
the widow of the late John Brand, who
with an adopted daughter survives.
The funeral will be held at the home
here at 10 o'clock Friday forenoon, the
Rev. W. P. Trowbridge officiating.

Colegrove- Robinson
Married, Wednesday, June 4th, at the
home of the bride's parents, Miss
Blanche Anna Robinson, youngest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 'Harvey Robin-
son, and Mr. Lloyd Burton Colegrove
of Canadice. The marriage ceremony,
which took place at high noon, was per-
formed by Rev. Mr. Waltz of the Evan-
gelical church of Wayland.
They were attended by Miss Sadie M.
Robinson, sister of the bride, and Mr.
Gordon G. Gibson. The bride wore a
dark blue messaline dress.
The bride, who is one of our popular
young ladies, is a graduate of the North
Cohocton and Atlanta teachers training
class of June,1912, and very successfully
taught the Canadice district school number
six last year.
The groom is an enterprising young
man of Canadice, and their many friends
join in wishing them a long and prosperous
life.
After taking a western trip they will
be at home to their friends at Canadice
lake after July 1st.

Miss Barbara Brown, Daughter of
Villager, Married In East Africa
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Leighton Colegrove
of 18 Langdon Terrace, announce the
marriage of Mrs. Colegrove's daughter,
Miss. Barbara Bourne Brown, to George
Henry Thomas Spring.
The wedding took place Saturday at
St. Albans Church in Dares Salaam,
Tangenyika, East Africa. The 11 A.M.
ceremony was performed by Archdeacon
Capper.
Sir Edward Twining, Governor of
Tanganyika, and uncle of the bride-
groom, gave the bride in the marriage.
For her wedding the bride wore a
ballerina length gown of while faille.
Sir and Lady Twining were hosts at
the wedding reception held at
Government House following the wedding
ceremony. Later in the day Mr. Spring
and his bride left for a wedding trip
to Zanzibar.
The bride who flew from England to
East Africa, attended the Bronxville
School during the war years. Later
she returned to England and completed
her education at London University.
Mr. spring whose home is Lustleigh,
Devon, England, took his degree at
Cambridge University, and then went
to Tanganyika where he served as aide
to his uncle. He is now associated
with the firm of Twining Crossfield.
He and his bride will live in Dar es
Salaam.

OBITUARY.
HARRY COLEGROVE, Chicago, a salesman
for the Thompson-Taylor Spice company,
fell dead in Kansas City after handing
his card to a friend, L. Schaffer, in
the latter's store, with the remark,
"When you come to Chicago drop around
and see me, Schaffer." Mr. Colegrove
lived at 3021 Indiana avenue, Chicago.

DEATH OF FRANK WAITE

News came from Rochester Friday
morning of the death of Frank Waite,
an aged and respected citizen of
Springwater. He had been in failing
health for some time, and at the time
of his death was staying with his
oldest son, Frank, of Rochester. His
remains were brought to the home of
his son, Warren Waite, Friday, by Mr.
'Boies, who had charge of the funeral.
He leaves to mourn his loss three
daughters and five sons, Mrs. Alonzo
Haight of this place; Mrs. Jotham Cole-
grove and Mrs. Lillian Minor of
Rochester; Frank of Rochester, Maurice
of Kansas City, Warner, Warren and
Edward of this place; also several
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the A. C.
church Sunday, p. m., Rev. Buro of
Rochester officiating. Burial was in
Evergreen cemetery.

Keith Bartholomew, son of the late
Borden and Shirley Bartholomew of
Wayland, were united in marriage
on Oct. 19 at the First Evangelical
church parsonage in Wayland by
Rev. James Howsare.
Miss Hazel Abraham of Wayland
was the bride's only attendant, and
Cpl. Wayne Bartholomew, brother
of the groom, was best man.
The bride was attired in a brown
suit with matching accessories. The
bridesmaid wore a coral-colored
suit with green accessories.
A reception was held following
the ceremony at the home of the
bride.
Cpl. Bartholomew returned to
camp in Texas on Oct 20. The
bride will reside at home during
his period of service.
