REMOVED A BULLET
-------
>From the Body of the Would-be
Suicide, Mrs. Colegrove-
Dr. S. J . Sornberger a few days
ago recovered the second bullet from
the body of Mrs. Frances L. Colegrove,
the unfortunate woman who on the
morning of March 21 set fire to
her house and then attempted suicide
by firing two bullets into her body.
One ball was fired at her head and
glanced and remained under the scalp.
That was secured as soon as she was
taken to the hospital. The second
was fired into the left breast. It
passed almost through the body, but
there was not sufficient force to the
charge to take it clear through and it
stopped near a vertebra just under
the skin of the back. Dr. Sornberger
detected its presence in the back and
removed it without much trouble.
At the request of Superintendent of
tho Poor E. J. Bockes, Dr. Sornberger
and Dr. Moore this morning at the
hospital examined Mrs. Colegrove as
to her sanity. They recommended
that she be taken to the Binghamton
state hospital.
