James F. Colgrove, 82, passed
away last evening at his home in
Odell after an illness of nine
years.
Surviving are his wife, six
sons and one daughter. They are
John of Topeka, Kas.; James A.,
Wymore; Charles of Linn, Kas.;
Edward of beatrice; Elmer and
Dell Colgrove, and Mrs. Nellie
Brown of Odell. He also leaves
two sisters, Mrs. Emma Richards
of Oklahoma and Mrs. John With
of Beatrice.
Funeral Services will be Wed-
nesday at 2 o'clock from the
Christian church at Odell.
Burial at that place.

church on Elk street. The ring
service was used. The bride was
attended by Mrs. Marie Colgrove.
Mr. Earl Colgrove, brother of the
groom, was best man. Mr. Floyd
and Miss Mona Colgrove were
also present.
The groom is a son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ed. Colgrove of this city.
He is a projectionist for one of
the theaters in Omaha. They will
make their home in that city.

Mrs. Abbo Fischer
Johanna Margaret Heddricks was
born in Nordan germany, Jan 28,
1857, and died June 7th, 1925, at
the age of 68 years, 4 months,
and 10 days.
The deceased came with her
parents to America at the age of
16 years, residing at Peoria, Ill.
There she was united in marriage
to Abbo Fischer on Dec. 15, 1875.
Too this union six children were
born, four of whom survive her.
They are William Fischier and
Mrs. Ed Colgrove of Wymore and
John Fischer and Mrs. Chas. Col-
grove of Linn, Kans. One daughter,
Mrs. J. M Davey of Lincoln, passed
away in May, 1924, another
daughter, Margaret, in infancy.
She also leaves nineteen grand-
children, one brother, a sister-
in-law, Mrs. Henry Moritz and
husband of Wymore and a host of
friends to mourn her loss. At
an early age she was united to
the Lutheran church.
In 1891 she came with her family
to Kansas, living there a number
of years, then moving to Nebraska
where she lived until the time of
her death. In January 1925, she
was stricken with the illness
which, in spite of all that loving
hands could do, resulted in her
death.
A precious one from is is gone.
A voice we loved is stilled;
A Place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.

Erskine Colgrove and Miss Minnie
Armstrong, two prominent young
people of Odell, were united in
marriage yesterday morning at the
county judge's office in the court
house. Justice E. E. Ellis
officiating.
The announcement of the wedding
will come in the nature of a
surprise to the friends of the
young couple at Odell, as it was
generally understood that it would
not oddur until Christmas.
Preparations for a rousing
charivari were well under way, and
it was to have been one of the big
social events of the season in the
little southern Gage county town.
But the young couple boarded an
early morning train yesterday for
beatrice, procured a license and
were wedded and started on their
honeymoon trip almost before their
friends were aware of their
absence from home. THey departed
for Texas where they expect to
spend six weeks traveling and
visiting friends.

Douffet, 60, Galena route 2,
died at 9:20 a.m. Monday in
Oak Hill Hospital, Joplin, after
a long illness.
He was born Oct. 3, 1911, in
Galena and lived here all his
life. He was a miner and more
recently worked for the Eagle-
Picher Industries, Inc., at
Galena. He retired several years
ago. Mr. Douffet was a veteran
of World War II. He was married
Sept. 14, 1929, in Joplin to
Edna Densman, who survives.
Other survivors include two
sons, Joseph Douffet, Donaldson-
ville, La., and Denny Douffet,
Galena; five daughters, Mrs.
Coleen Colgrove, Galena, Mrs.
Caroline Fleming, Concord,
Calif., Mrs. Reina Cutbirth,
Ontario, Calif., Mrs, Loretta
Grube, Wichita, Kan., and Mrs.
Becky Schurman, Carthage, Mo.;
a brother, Jewel Douffet, Galena,
and 11 grandchildren.

Resident There 43 Years Operated
Monument Shop—Funeral to
Be Held Sunday.
------
Galena, Kan., Dec. 2.—W. S.
Moore, 82 years old, Galena resident
43 years, died at 4 o'clock this
afternoon at his home, 1616 Joplin
street, following a two months
illness of heart disease and a
complication of ailments.
Born in Indiana, October 15, 1856,
Mr. Moore moved with his parents
to Illinois, later coming to Kansas
in 1870 and settling at Larned.
Leaving there, he settled at Winfield
and made his home there until 1895
when he came to Galena, where he had
since resided. He was a stone-mason
and a stone-cutter and operated a
monument shop on East Eighth street
here until his recent illness. He was
a lifetime member of the Christian
church and served as superintendent
of the church here a number of years
ago.
Surviving are a son, Clyde Moore,
at home; three daughters, Mrs.
Lucille Smith of San Francisco,
Calif., Mrs. Dot Miller of Sacramento,
Calif., and Mrs. Mabel Colgrove
of Galena route 2; a sister,
Mrs. Nancy Knight of Larned, and
five grandchildren, Clyde Miller of
Saoramento and Kathryn, Billy,
Rosemary and Bobby Colgrove of
Galena route 2.
Funeral services will be held at
2:80 o'olock. Sunday afternoon at
the Christian church, with the Rev.
Alphon Goodrick, pastor, in charge.
Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Born Feb. 26,1888, in Joplin.
Mo., she had lived on the
Coast for two and a half years
with her daughter and son-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward R.
Millet.
She was a member of the
First Christian Church of
Frankfort, Ind., the Obiah
Rebecca Lodge, Eastern
Star, Auxiliary of Railroad
Train Men and Odd Fellows,
all of Frankfort.
In addition to Mrs. Millet,
she is survived by two other
daughters, Mrs. Ruth
Mellecker and Mrs. Ruby
Peterson; a son, Keith Col-
grove, all of Ft. Lauderdale,
Fla.; 13 grandchildren, and
nine great grandchildren.
She was the widow of
Edwin F. Colgrove.
Friends may call Friday
from 7 to 10 p.m. at Lang
Funeral Home, Gulfport,
where a prayer service
will be held at 8 p.m. with
the Rev. Gerald Peters,
pastor of the First Christian,
Gulfport, officiating.
A graveside service will
be held Tuesday at Greenlawn
Cemetery in Frankfort, Ind.

Joseph A. Colegrove. 15, Menominee,
Mich., was killed Saturday when he
was shot in the face while hunting
rabbits with his brother-in-law,
Tracy Hammond of Caldwell.
Hammond said he saw a movement
in the brush and fired, the charge
from the shotgun striking the
victim in the face.
