California girl to marry James F. Roehl
The engagement of two members of pioneer
and prominent California and New Mexico
families has been announced.
They are Carla Elizabeth Colegrove and
James Foster Roehl.
The engagement was announced by Mr. and
Mrs. John Allen Colegrove, parents of
Miss Colegrove at Anahelm, Calif.
Mr. Roehl, who was born and reared in
Albuqierque, is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph E. Roehl.
RISS COLEGROVE'S father has been
prominent in the electronics industry in
California and is the founder of Inter-
state Electronics Corp.
The bride-to-be is a fourth generation
Californian and the granddaughter of the
late Dr. John A. Colegrove of San Marino.
Her grandmother, Mrs. Nora Lewis, resides
at Beverly Hills.
The couple met last summer in Denver at a
dinner party given for young Roehl at
which Miss. Colegrove was the hostess.
Last winter Miss Colegrove attended
Denver University and was a frequent
visitor at her parents' vacation home
at Vail, Colo.
She is an accomplished skier as is Roehl.
He founded the Rent-a-Ski Corp. of
America and his connection with that
business took him to Vail frequently.
HOEHL WHO was a columnist on the
University of New Mexico Lobo newspaper
when he was a student, is involved in
the formation of the western division
of Industrialized Component Modular
Corporation.
In his high school and college days here,
Roehl was better know to his friends as
Jay.
Roehl's high school education was at the
New Mexico Military Institute at Roswell.
Young Roehl has been residing in
Denver but he has traveled considerably
in the last year in connection with his
ski and modular businesses.
Miss Colegrove is a graduate of Marywood
School for Girls and Chapman College.
She has spent the past five years working
with deaf children and started her post-
graduate work in this field at DU
last fall after an around-the-world tour
with World Campus Afloat.
HER FAMILY has been prominent in social
and civic circles of Southern California
for decades.
Roehl's father is an attorney and the
managing partner of Modertl, Spering,
Roehl and Sisk, one of the state's
largest law firms.
His grandfather, the late Charles Roehl,
was one of the Democratic Parties
leaders in its early days in New Mexico.
In a part of his political career he was
a close associate of the late Clyde
Tingley, who was a mayor of
Albuquerque and later governor of New
Mexico.
Young Roehl did his Undergraduate work at
UNM, studied law at Creighton University
and had post graduate work in business
at the University of Texas.
HE WAS A MEMBER of Sigma Alpha Epslon
social fraternity and the Phi Alpha
Delta law fraternity.
Miss Colegrove, her parents and Mr. and
Mrs. Richard C. Metcalf and their two
children, Bridget, 5, and Maria, 2,
will be the guests of the Joseph Roehls
in Albuquerque this weekend.
THey will be en route to Vail for a
vacation. Mrs. Metcalf and Miss Colegrove
are sisters. The Metcalfs live in
Yorba Linda, Calif.
A fall wedding is planned at the
Colegrove home in Anaheim with Msgr.
Richard Heister, of Denver, a close
family friend, officiating.

years and had spent several

they moved to Idaho Falls.
She has been a homemaker,
wife, and mother.
An active member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of
Later-day Saints, she served
in the Presidencies of Relief
Society, Primary, and Young
Women. She and her husband
faithfully served "Meals On
Wheels" for 10 years. She
enjoyed family history work,
crocheting, and visiting with
friends.
