I wonder if this is the last we will hear of Stephen Colegrove? During some of the televised broadcast, there was rumor that Stephen was not actually the biological son of Mr. Colegrove. I will keep my eyes open for further development on that particular mention...

Friends of woman killed along with her husband and a son testify for the defense in a Bradford County murder trial.
32 year old Steven Colegrove of Deposit is charged in the deaths of his parents, Joseph and Marlene and his brother Michael.
All three were found shot to death in their Tuscarora Township home in August 2007.
Several friends of Marlene told jurors she was an outspoken woman who often talked about her family.
They say that Marlene was afraid of son Robert's wife, Heather.
Another witness, Nancy Townsend, said Marlene shared a chilling thought less than 2 weeks before her death.
"At the end of the conversation, she stated to me that she wanted me to know that if something ever happened to her, I would know where to look," Townsend says.
Townsend believes Marlene was talking about Robert.
A friend of Steven Colegrove's said he shot left handed while they were on an outing in Tioga County.
State Police have testified a bruise found on Steve's right shoulder was caused by firing a shot gun.
The defense rested it's case and closing arguments will start tomorrow morning.
If convicted of first degree murder, Steven Colegrove could face a death sentence.

Brother Takes Stand In Colegrove Murder Trial

The brother of a man accused of murder takes the stand in Bradford County Court.
32 year old Steven Colegrove is charged in the death of his mother, father and brother.
Action News reporter Gabe Osterhout tells us what jurors heard in court today.
36 year old Robert Colegrove says he loved his mother and father, even though they had problems recently.
His brother Steven is on trial, accused of shooting and killing his parents and brother with a shotgun, in their Tuscarora Township home in August 2007.
Robert told the court his mother didn't approve of his wife Heather, or the fact he had adopted a daughter.
A letter found written to Robert by his mother told him she no longer considered him her son.
Prosecutors say Steven used these claims to point the finger at Robert.
"It was appropriate to call Robert Colegrove because Steven Colegrove was claiming that his mother, father and brother had made all sorts of assertions. Of course, when Steven Colegrove said those things, the parents were already dead so we can't question them," said Bradford County District Attorney Daniel Barrett.
Jurors also heard from members of the Pennsylvania State Police.
They testified that Steven lied to them about several things, including a bruise on his shoulder.
He said he got it when he fell on the porch of his Deposit home.
Police believe he got the bruise from firing a shotgun.
"Jurors will have to pass judgment on all the evidence as presented. We have endeavored to show the jury what Steven Colegrove did after police began investigating this crime," said Barrett.
The prosecution plans to call at least one more witness before resting it's case.
In Towanda, Gabe Osterhout, WBNG-TV Action News.
Robert also said he was not aware Steven was his half-brother until after the murders.
Tests showed Joseph Colegrove was not Steven's biological father.
The prosecution expects to wrap up it's case on Monday.

The Deposit man could face the death penalty.
Action News Reporter Gabe Osterhout has been covering the trial since it began in Bradford County Court.
Jurors deliberated for more than 6 hours before finding 32-year old Steven Colegrove guilty of first and third degree murder.
Colegrove was convicted of shooting and killed his parents, Joseph and Marlene Colegrove, and a brother, Michael.

The prosecution says the evidence pointed to Colegrove.

And DNA of his brother Michael was found on that shotgun.
The Defense argued Steven's fingerprints were not on the weapon, and another brother, Robert, had more motive to kill his family.

"We can't undo the tragedy but we were able to do our best and put our evidence before the jury and we're pleased and proud of the work we've done on the matter," said Bradford County District Attorney Daniel Barrett.
Defense attorneys did not comment tonight.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for 8:30 Friday Morning in Bradford County Court.
In Pennsylvania, the State Supreme Court will automatically review a case, if a death penalty sentence is given.

Update: Colegrove Receives Life In Prison
By WBNG News

Story Updated: Jan 31, 2009 at 9:13 PM EST
A Broome County man will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Steven Colegrove was convicted of 3 counts of first degree murder in Bradford County Court.
He could have been sentenced to death
Action News reporter Gabe Osterhout tells us, friends and family were split by the jury's decision.
After nearly 2 weeks of testimony, 32 year old Steven Colegrove learned his fate.
He will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Colegrove was convicted earlier this week of 3 counts of first and third degree murder.
Jurors believed he killed his parents, Joseph and Marlene Colegrove and brother Michael Colegrove in their Tuscarora Township home in August 2007.
Prosecutors and family members were seeking the death penalty.
"He took 3, he should give 1," said Stanley Colegrove, Steven's Uncle.
"I would have preferred the death penalty verdict but that's nothing we can control or compel and we have the 3 life sentences, that will keep him out of daylight forever," said Daniel Barret
A jury of 7 men and 5 women deliberated for about 2 and a half hours, trying to decide whether to sentence Colegrove to life in prison or death by lethal injection.
But in the end, they couldn't come up with a unanimous decision.
By law, the judge had to impose the life sentence for Colegrove.
Something that pleased some of his friends that testified on his behalf.
Many of whom still believe he is innocent.
"Very happy...very pleased...would still like to see him out," said Melissa Smith, Steven's friend.
"The Steven I know is a generous man, a kind man, and a man that earned my trust many years ago and still has it today," said Michael Manzer, Steven's friend.
Defense attorneys did not comment.
Prosecutors expect them to appeal the guilty verdict.
A judge will formally sentence Colegrove at a later date.
Under the sentence that will be imposed by the court, Colegrove will never be eligible for parole.
