BLOOMFIELD is somewhat excited over
the robbery committed by Mox duck-
worth, Elias Colegrove and Justin
Bishop of that place, in Troy. The
boys hired a team of Mr. Guthrie,
stating they were going to Belknap,
but instead of doing so they went to
Troy and began by breaking open the
stores of Ross & Rosser and Dillner
and finally getting into the post-
office where they secured about $20.
overlooking a registered letter
containing $100. They worked their
way into Dr. Garret's office and
found some liquor. All having a
weakness, they proceeded to paralyze
the same. They then became very
noisy in their thefts adn were
discovered by some of the Trogans,
who raised the alarm. The boys
bounced into their buggy and started
for home followed by officers and
others. On arriving in Bloomfield
they alighted from their buggy and
ran to different parts of the town
to hide. Mox Ductworth and Cole-
grove were captured at once but
Bishop, hurrying to the junction
happened to get on an extra freight
and escaped. He however was cap-
tured later. They were all taken to
Keokuk to stand trial for robbing
the postoffice.

Letter From the Gold Region.
-----
We recieved a letter from our
young friend, Lewis W. Colegrove,
this week. He in company with
others left this place in april,
for Pike's Peak. The letter is
dated Fort Kerney, Nebraska, May
29, He says: "I have had a pretty
good time since I left Olney. We
are going to California, Pike's
Peak is a bumbug, so we will not
go near it. Game is plenty,
Buffalo, Antilope, Deer,
Woverines. * * * * * The
Indians are plenty, and are
fighting among themselves. Direct
your letters to Salt Lake City."
Lewis left this place believing
that a fortune could be easily
made at the Peak but like many
others has found that it is
a humbug.
