I was curious to see if this man was a scion of my westward-moving Colgroves
of the line of Eli/Eleazer. This man was Herman or Hermon Camp Colegrove,
b. 10 Mar 1878, Barton Co., KS, d. 1967, Fort Dodge, Ford Co., KS, from the
line of Francis 2. Although usually Herman in records, he clearly filled out
and signed his WWI draft registration as Hermon Camp Colegrove. He was son of
Herman/Hermon Peter Colegrove (often Colgrove) b. in NY, grandson of Herman
Camp Colegrove, ggson of James, gggson of Jeremiah, ggggson of Francis 2.
Confusing information has been posted about this family as someone shows the
father as being born in Idaho, not likely in 1838, instead of IN. Father and
grandfather were in IN by 1850. While Herman Peter Colegrove was a Civil War
pensioner, Hermon Camp Colegrove does not mention the previous Spanish
American War service on this WWI draft registration.
