Since a couple of Cardners married Colegroves, I thought I would mention
this forum. I annoyed them for 14 months until they finally started one
today. If anyone is lurking and connected to Cardner/Codner/Gardner ( and
who knows what other variations on the theme), please post your connections
there.
Still hoping to find more on Malvina Colegrove, daughter of Eli and Judith
Greene Colegrove. She married Barber J. Cardner about 1830 in NY, and they
had a son, Dr. Iretus Greene Cardner. Malvina later married Frederick
Garner. One of Frederick's daughters apparently married a Cardner as well,
a Luther Cardner, I believe. Barber J. remarried also and was found on the
1880 Sullivan County census with wife Sarah, age 48, (Barber was 71), and
two young daughters.
I am so curious as to why they divorced. Did it affect their standing in
the SDB church? Strange situation.
