I pasted the above from Terry Colegrove's post. My line is the same as his
through Oliver (has to be a missing generation after him), but my presumed
COLEGROVE line after that is:
Nathan Colgrove (c. 1780-c.1860)
Polly Davis?
Mary Ann Colgrove (Jun 1814-after 1900) [alive for 1900 census]
James Flynn (c. 1820-c. 1862)
Harriette Evelyn Flynn (22 May 1854-10 Feb 1947)
Wolfred Nelson Hotchkiss (11 Jun 1842-26 Dec 1926)
Mary Alice Hotchkiss (7 Nov 1877-11 Sep 1957)
Frank Oliver Greenlee (5 Aug 1876-15 Jan 1948)
Phyllis Eileen Greenlee (12 Oct 1915 - )
Carl Waldemar Ostrom (4 July 1907-13 Jun 1961)
Alice Christine Ostrom (6 May 1939 - )
Kenneth Bruce Stannard (12 Aug 1942- )
The 1778 RI census has an Oliver Colegrove household, presumably our family,
which appears to have people in age ranges that would indicate several
generations under one roof. Perhaps the missing generation was there
somewhere. Is anyone digging in RI records?

It has been suggested that all of us to post our lineage to the list in an

I thought you might find this site interesting.
http://www1.jewishgen.org/loctown.HTM
If you have not tried it out, you *really* should! It searches for a
town/village by SOUNDEX (not exact spelling), and returns its longitude,
latitude, location from a large city in that country(i.e. Moscow,
Berlin), and gives you a button to click to display a MAP of exactly
where that town/village is. It is one of the coolest sites I've run
across in a while! It also lets you choose the country (Russia,
Germany, etc.) or you can search ALL of the countries in their databases
if you're not sure which country.
Enjoy,
Max

I have found my purported Mary Ann COLGROVE had yet another spouse. In the
1900 census, she is visiting with my great-grandparents in Iowa, states she
was b. Jun 1814 in NY, had had 10 children of whom 4 were alive (I only knew
of 5, including the 4 survivors) and had been married for 10 years to someone
named BABITT (BABBITT?). Mary Ann seems to fit perfectly with the 7th child
of Nathan COLEGROVE on page 58 of "Colegrove Family in America." Her father,
Nathan, was living with her family (then-spouse James FLYNN) in 1850 census
in Jackson Co., MI.
Hi all,
One of our list members asked, How can we make the list more active?
Does anyone have any ideas? If you do, send them to the list, so we can
all see them and perhaps it will help each of us to come up with other
ideas.
Thanks,
Max

Here is a fun web site with some genealogical interest. After you type
your name in a U.S. map appears that shows how many people were living in
each state with that name. The years that it shows: 1850, 1880, 1920, 1990

1 is the number one.

Can anyone confirm that Joseph Colegorve (b.1750-1770; d.?) and wife Hannah
(b.1767 & d. 8 July 1853), who are the parents of Almena Colegrove (b. 16
Feb1793 & d. 2 Dec 1854), are the same Joseph and Hannah Colegrove of the
published 1894 genealogy?
The 1894 genealogy does not list Almena as a child -- Almena MAY have been
born in Litchfield, CT, and is known to have married James Gibbs in Windsor,
CT, in 1813. The Joseph (1765-1840) & Hannah of the 1894 book moved from
Exeter, RI, to DeRuyter, Madison Co., NY, and should already have been in NY
by 1813 if the birth places of their listed children is correct, but they
could very well have been in Litchfield, CT, in the 1790's when Almena was
born. But why would Almena have stayed behind?
My Almena moved to Groton, Tompkins Co., NY, within three years of her
marriage to my Joseph Colegrove. In 1850, Almena's mother Hannah is widowed
and living with Almena and James in Groton, Tompkins Co., NY. The 1894 book
shows many Colegroves in adjoining Cortland Co. by this time.
Almena Colegrove and James Gibbs had the following children: Eliza, James C.,
Oliver W., Julia, and Norman -- all born in Groton, NY. I am directly
descendant from James C. Gibbs.
