Looking for the parents of Samuel Cole, b. abt 1801 in NC, m. 4 Jan 1824,
Lawrence County, TN, to Nancy Cottrell, who died 31 Oct 1857, bur Harlan
Cemetery, near Bonnertown, TN. Samuel and Nancy were parents of Elizabeth,
William, Thomas, Pleasant, Isaac and perhaps others.
Samuel married as his second wife, Mary Ann Lovell, widow of Reuben Lovell
who had been killed in the War Between the States. They were parents of
Nancy, Frances, Samuel, Levi and Monroe Cole. Samuel died after the 1880
Census of Limestone County, AL was taken. This family lived in the Pleasant
Grove Community of Limestone County, Alabama.
>From Census Records, Samuel said he was born in North Carolina, and both
his parents were born there, too. There was a William Cole who lived in
Lawrence County, Tennessee and a Thomas Cole who lived in Giles County,
Tennessee, both counties are nearby Lauderdale and Limestone Counties in Alabama.
Any help would be gratefully accepted.
Betty Cole Willerton
I am still looking for the line of Coles that include Edson L. Cole born in NY about 1852 and shows up married to Sarah A. Cole in Plymouth, Litchfield, in CT in the 1879. Sarah was born in Plymouth, Litchfield (county I presume) Ct in 1857. A son is listed as Roy C. Cole, but they lost their first son named Roy as a baby in 1877, and named their second son born in 1879 Roy Edson Cole (my grandfather).
Edson L. Cole's father is Lorenzo D. Cole formerly of Harwinton, CT, but shows up in a Maine census in Portland, Cumberland Co., in 1830, 1840.1850 and 1870.
Any suggestions? I've been away from my search for quite awhile so I'm not sure where the best place to plunge back in would be.
Thanks.

Joy: Thanks for responding. I did have the Barnes marriage books, but,
sold them. I have copies of all the pages on Cole. I couldn't find a
connection to my John Cole and William Cole. I just can't seem to get them
connected to one of these Cole families. Some say they were the sons of
William and Mary Giles Cole; I just haven't seen anything to put them in this
family. Thanks, Lyle Corder

Subj: Seeking info on the John Cole b1669, wife: Johannah Garrett family
of Baltimore
Trying to find researchers who are researching the John Cole b1669; wife
Johannah Garrett family. They married in 1668 in MD. They had a son
William Cole b1691-1698 who married Sarah Mary Giles in 1735.
I am trying to identify their children and who they married.
I have a William Cole b1742 who married Elizabeth Hardesty and a John Cole
b1751 who married Elizabeth Cullison. Both marriages were in Baltimore
County, MD. I think they belong somewhere in the John Cole/Johannah Garrett
family, but, not sure of their parents.
If someone would take the time to look thru their Cole charts of this
family I would appreciate it.
Thanks for any help or clues...

and was in Cheraw District, SC for 1790 Census.
Daniel Preston Cole, born about 1760 and married Marie DuBose roughly 1789

William James Cole (my grandfather) was born 9 Mar 1865 in Belvedere, IL to John Cole (of England) and Mary Honogon (of Mearsaw, NY). William died in Los Angeles, CA, on 3 Jul 1933.
My father, Everett Bush Cole, Sr. was born 17 Apr 1910 to William James Cole and Alice Bush Cole in Jamestown, NY. He died 21 Aug 2001 in Meyersville, TX. It is interesting that my father’s death certificate says his father was George William Cole, but William Cole’s death certificate says his name was William James Cole. I have copies of both of their death certificates as well as Alice Bush Cole, my grandmother.

No. My father told me the Cole family immigrated from Wales/England thru Canada and then to Belvedere, IL in the mid 1800’s. His grandfather was a stone mason and built the front of the courthouse in Belvedere, IL.

Sending you some information that I have on file on COLE'S
Lori ;- ) in Az. formally from Washington, Pa.
My Daniel COLEs (Sr & Jr) were a "near miss" in this post because of the
Fauquier County, Virginia location. My Daniel COLEs were originally in
Prince William County, VA as early as 1740. Daniel Jr. served in the
Revolution from there. Daniel Jr died in Culpeper County in 1851.
Daniel
Jr's daughter, Frances, married Thomas KELLY Jr and Daniel Jr himself
married 2nd, Thomas Kelly's sister, Mary Ann Kelly. The Kelly's were of
Fauquier County, before Culpeper County.
That said, I can't connect our COLE's but maybe you will see something?
