Amy, my line after Daniel & Sarah is then Matthias, the same as your's,
and then M's son, Wilmon P. Wilmon P. and his wife, Mary E. "Maude" Cox had
one son, Samuel, who died in the Civil War of his wounds at the battle of
Gainesville. and four daughters, one of which was my father's mother, Lucy
Cole. I suspect that Wilmon P.'s middle name may be Pitmon and my guess is
just that, a guess - but Lucy, my father's mother, named him after her
father - hence Wilmon Pitmon Keys, my father. Lucy married Henry Armistead
Keys in PW Co. My father was born there, as were all of their children. It
was Lucy's only marriage, but Henry A. had been married and widowed, after
several children from that marriage also.
I do recall about Alexander's move up into Maryland... the Laurel area,
possibly the Vansville area. I have often wondered if Colesville, Maryland,
which I used to live for a while, was named after any Coles family. A
whole lot of my information initially came from Carolyn Lynn - whom I met as a
"new" cousin when I first started my genealogy research in the Manassas
area, at the Bull Run library, RELIC section. She had done a LOT of Cole and
Lynn research, as they were intertwined also.
I do not have many pictures at all - other than of my father and only a few
of his mother Lucy, but none as a child or a young person. I also have
one of Lucy's sister, Linda Cole, who never married and who stayed and ran
the old family farm in Independent Hill - my father mostly grew up farming
with her. Small world..... trite but true. gentsia
Hi Amy,
Guess my Coles are out there somewhere. I traced them to England but there
lies my roadblock....still trying to find where in Ireland they are from.
Birds are great. I took the address because I was raising cockatiels years
back and took in a few abused parrots to nurture back to health. Hubby
worked from home and when someone would here the birds in the background
that was always of interest and they would ask....."Do you live in a bird
sanctuary"?. I have one cockatiel left, a male now 17 years old and as
active and chattery as always and a non-stop whistler. Tell your daughters
he purrs. My daughter had a cat and they became great friends, I have photos
of him sitting on the cats back, they loved sitting in a window together. He
would call the cat baby girl, which he learned from my daughter. Eventually
the cat would go to him, put her face against his cage and he would gently
peck at her and she purred. Needless to say he picked that up.. Besides him
we have 10 chickens, just hens. The rooster had to go, they get real nasty.
During the warmer weather I have a few wild turkeys visit and of course, I
feed them. They like to roost on the grandchildren's swing set or on top of
the chicken coop. Also have a few chipmunks that eat with the chickens,
that's a daily occurrence. One does not bother the other. It's such a
pleasure to watch how well they get along.
Good luck on your move to CA. It's very different then the East Coast. I
have a brother outside of San Francisco and hubby has a brother in San
Diego, they both love it and wouldn't come back this way to live. Wish you
and your family all the best and safe trip.

Amy - I think we just may have, at least in part, a connection through our
Coles. There is more than one Daniel in the line, but I do have a Daniel
Cole, DOB 1740, in Pr. Wm. Co. Died in 1797, PWC. From the Daniel b.
1740, my line then comes down through one of his sons.... Matthias Cole. Does
any of this sound familiar? gentsia
Now my curiosity is up with the Cole's. I have a William Cole, born in
Ireland 1829 although family says he came from England but was in fact Irish
and emigrated with parents and brother to England during the Irish famine,
and served in the Civil War with 15th Engineers, NY Infantry. Not only was

he was away more than home and did not support his family living here in

he was an abusive drinking man. I often wondered if there was more family in
VA.

Yup...my line starts with Daniel 1740-1797, then to his son Matthias, his son
Alexander, his son John A., his son Henry Denmeade Cole. Henry married
twice...first to Amanda, and later to Sarah Effie. Effie was my great great
grandmother. Her daughter Catherine had my grandmother Beverly.
I have photos of Henry, Effie, Catherine and Beverly. Beverly (Nana) still lives
in Laurel, MD. I also have a stack of old Cole / Souder photos from the 1880s,
1890s, early 1900s that I'm trying to put names on. If you go to my family tree
on Ancestry.com, you can see all those old photos. My username is 'sayegirls'
and the family tree is called Quinlan/Tomberlin Family Tree.
Which part of the tree do you belong to?
