Hi Colleen,
Our Cole families are descendants of John Cole
(1605 England-1685 Hartford, CT).
There is no indication that these(our) Coles are related to
James Cole of Plymouth Colony, MA. According to another
cousin a Mr. William Cole who has did a DNA , the records
suggest we are from Berlin, Connecticut.
As far as I know my Alva was only married the one time to
Eliza Goodrich. They were married in a church in Connecticut.
Alva Cole was in Warrick County, In, by 1843-his land grand is dated
August 1, 1844, the assumptions would be he was there as early as 1840
he was married by this time......but he had been in Ohio, and lived there
for awhile,we are thinking that is where my Lurrissa Cole was born at.
I an going to assume his father's name is either John and or Solomon Cole-
I lean toward the John though.
Take Care.

Do you know who your Alva Cole's parents were? Or any of his siblings? I
have an Alva or Alvah Cole, too. He married first a woman named Jerusha and
when she died he married a woman with the surname of Freeman. I'm going to
have to dig up my info. My family has been looking for the parents of our
Alva or Alvah Cole for years. All we know is that he is said to have been a

Do you know who your Alva Cole's parents were? Or any of his siblings? I have an Alva or Alvah Cole, too. He married first a woman named Jerusha and when she died he married a woman with the surname of Freeman. I'm going to have to dig up my info. My family has been looking for the parents of our Alva or Alvah Cole for years. All we know is that he is said to have been a bound boy.

Hello List,
There has been a wealth of information on the Cole clan in the US but mine is still illusive.
My William was born 1828 in Ireland and a brother Thomas in 1830 to a Thomas b. 1791 and Rity (?) b 1802 Cole. Apparently they fled to England during the famine because I find them on the 1851 census living in St. Andrews, Holborne in the Borough of Finsbury. William leaves England somewhere between 1851 and 1855 because he is living in NY and marries a Lydia Chauncey in 1855. All information after that I have.
I would like to know where in Ireland he was born, when the family actually arrived in England and when William and Thomes came to NY. According to his Civil War records and death certificate I gather the parents remained in England. If anyone knows this side of the Cole clan or can direct me in the right direction to find the Irish roots it would be greatly appreciated.

If you aren't as close to God as you once were, make no mistake about who moved
I too, am looking for William and James and John Cole. in Nova Scotia. However there were family members who went to the US and I can't find them. William came to Colchester County, NS in approx 1814 (give or take a couple of years) He had been (pressed into service on a man of war and lost one eye, from a swinging rope)(this was found in a history of Colchester County. He then was discharged ? and came to NS. He married and had a large family, some of whom went to the US. His son, James is my gggrandfather. The story is that he came from Poole, England.
James' son Alfred, went to Mass and his grandson, William Cody, has found us. There are sons John and Absolem and I have their info but would love to contact any other family connections. I thought perhaps someone in the US might be looking for the Nova Scotia connection. Also if anyone has any ideas how to search further it would be greatly appreciated. The story is that he landed at Pictou, NS, but don't know if this is true. I also don't know who William's wife was.

My gf, James Meron Cole, was b.1884 in Elmira, Chemung Co. NY, the s/o
Frank Robert Cole and Sarah Jennie Simmons. James m. my gm, Ada Henry, in
1909 in Bay City MI. Their marriage license lists him as an electrician and
a resident of Saginaw Co. MI.
According to an almost unreadable copy on ancestry.com, pg.178 A of the 1900
Census/Saginaw Co., it appears James had at least one older brother named
Robert b.1874, plus another (unreadable) sibling listed. Can anyone
possibly clarify the light handwriting for me?
Also, If you are familiar with any branch of this Cole family, I would love
to hear from you.
MK Lund
Here is another Cole who died in the Dallas, Texas area. At this point, the only thing I know about her is what I read in this obituary.
