Hello list.....
With all the talk of New York Cole's, I'm wondering if anyone connects with my 5th Great-grandfather John Cole, born 18 April 1744, believed in Massachusetts, died 9 July 1817 in Gorham, Ontario Co. New York. He married Hannah ( maiden name unknown) Hannah was born 31 March 1746 in Gorham & died 3 December 1816 in Gorham. Both are buried at the Baldwin Corner's Cemetery in Gorham.
I am aware of two children ....Since there are 11 years between their births, I suspect there were other children.
1. Jonathan ( my 4th G-grandfather ) born 3 September 1768, Berkshire Co. Massachusetts , died 9 August 1828 Gorham. Jonathan married Mary Ann ( Polly) Brewer, daughter of William Brewer & Mary Gooddale.
Jonathan & Polly's children- Willard, William, Harvey, Melinda ( my 3rd G-grandmother- married Roland A. Treat) Gilbert & Samuel. all the children were born in Gorham.
2. Willard, born 1779, Windsor, Berkshire Co. Massachusetts & died 30 December 1844, Gorham.
Willard married Hannah Punderson Chapman, daughter of Ezra Chapman
Willard & Hannah's children -George W., Esther Avery, Hannah Polley, Cyrus c. & Amanda M.
I understand there were other children but none reached maturity.
I would greatly appreciate any information on this family,
Joanne Mack, Salem, Oregon

Hi All,
I am having trouble finding out any information on the parents and siblings
of my ggg grandmother Mary Ann (Cooper) COLE. She was born about 1848. I do
not know the exact birthplace. Her parents were a Samuel and Mary COOPER.
Samuel and Mary were living with Mary Ann and her husband William COLE in
the 1881 census and resided in Dartmouth. Also living with them were two
boys named William COOPER and John COOPER age 15 and 6 respectively. I am
thinking that these boys were sons of one of her brothers.
Mary Ann died Sept. 20,1936, Woodlawn, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia
As per handwritten notes by my paternal grandmother she has listed them
listed as follows.
Fred and Sarah COOPER
Children: Isabella, Mary Ann, Fred, Tom, Bill, and Theusa
Isabella married an unknown MacKAY.
Theusa married an unknown MacDONALD.
I have no idea who her brothers married.
I have searched to no avail to find any clues but have found nothing to this
point.
Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

HI
Does any one have a Stephen Clay Cole in their family. I don't have any
other information on him except on July 26, 1883 his daughter Laura Cole
married Thomas O'neal at the residence of Mrs Sary Francis Cole in Johnson
Co., Illinois. The brides mother was Laura Francis Henderson. The Sary
Francis Cole residence was my great aunt who's full maiden name was Sarah
Francis Henderson and she was married to Charles Slevle Cole (April 10,
1837-Oct 15, 1871)

I am looking for information on Thurman William COLE who possibly married Agnes Louise (BAER) PELLEGRINO possibly in November of 1968 in Elko, Nevada.?? Agnes is the daughter of Frank BAER and Alice GARBETT and was previously married to unknown PELLEGRINO and is my half first cousin.? When doing a newspaper search for her I came across an Elko, NV newspaper listing marriage licenses and in later Salt Lake city directories she is listed as COLE but Thurman is not there.? I did an SSDI search and, if I have the right one, he died in Dallas, TX in 1986, last residence Helper, Carbon, UT.? Agnes died in 1978 in Salt Lake City.
Thanks,
Sharrie

you said you had the Pa 1910 censes . look at the county of that censes and write/call the department of public health . death certificate office of that county . usually at the county-city building .if they do not have it get the address/phone number of the pennsyvania archives office . they may charge. but if they have it you can ask where so and so was burried and contact the funeral home / cemetery where he is burried and they (funeral home / cemetery)usually will look that up and send the info free. another tip . if he is still living and still (with) his wife he would be listed with his wife . he would most likely have died. check that 1920 censes and see if it listed her as widowed then check in the co where she lived in 1920 or Pa for his death certificate info .

Hello listers,
Newbe here. My cousins and I have been working for years on our Cole
family, but we have been so stuck on the earliest ancestor we have: Samuel Cole
(don't know his middle name), born Dec, 1862 in Ireland. Married Elizabeth
Kelly born 9 Feb 1863 in Newfoundland. We know nothing about Samuel Cole until
he married. Their first four children, William Samuel, Earnest Matthew, Edith
(aka Florence Elizabeth) and David Harold were born in Brockville, Ontario,
Canada. 5 additional children, Margaret, Alfred, Elizabeth, Ellen and Thomas
John, were all born in Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh. They all lived relatively
close together in the Lawrenceville/Bloomfield section of Pittsburgh, PA.
What we would like to determine is the death dates for Samuel and Elizabeth,
and possibly where they are buried. They both apear in the 1910 Census, but
Elizabeth is alone in the 1920 Census, so we assume Samuel died between 1910
and 1920. Of course, he could have been out of town at the time of the 1920
Census. LOL
If this family sounds familiar to any of you, or if you are researching the
Cole family in Pittsburgh, PA, I would certainly love to hear from you.
Thank you.

Hello SJ,
I have a William Cole b 1821 in England but settled in NY. He fought in the
Civil War lying about his age to enlist. He married a Lydia Chauncey born in

elusive Cole/Chauncey side of my family.

Hi Folks
There seems to be a lot of mention of Michigan Coles, so I thought I'd throw
out feelers and see if I can connect my branch.
I have traced back as far as Theron Cole born abt 1819 in either VT or NY.
He married Jane Rice. Census shows them in St Clair Co. and Macomb Co. I
descend from their son John Byron born 1849. Any help would be appreciated!

I recently stopped at an antique mall and found two family reunion
pictures of a COLE family that were taken at Belle Isle, Michigan on 21
August 1921.? One of the pictures is of 7 brothers and 7 sisters and the
other is of, presumably, the entire family at the gathering.? Each
picture is about 10 inches by 7 l/2 inches on a heavy paper stock
backing and in the bottom right hand corner it is embossed "M. R. Cole,
Peck, Mich.", and I am assuming that is the photographer and possibly a
family member.
If these are your family, please contact me and I will be more than
happy to send them to you.

This is no doubt a photo of the family of John M. Cole's 14 children. M.R.
Cole is probably Melvin R. Cole, living in Sanilac Co., MI (where Peck is) on
1920 census. Look at the Family Trees on RootsWeb for Melvin R. Cole and
you'll find this family. No one seems to know the ancestry of John M. Cole,
however.
