Actually, Redmon Cole covered three Cole lines who were in the SW Viriginia
and whose origins go back to James Cole who married Mary Tibbes (not Lobel as
so often quoted) and also two lines from Daniel Cole who married Ruth
?.through his descendant Israel Cole who married Remember Burgess and died in 1792
in Va. whose granddaughter Eunice married Eleazer Cole.also reportedly
descended from Daniel.
Mr. Coles research was contained in excess of 20 binders (approx 12000

Besides research in courthouses, he mailed hundreds of questionnaires to all
the descendants of each line he could find asking about their ancestry as
well as location of siblings and cousins. Its a real treasure trove of
information.

line out of (as best I recall) Shady Valley, TN.
That line descends from both James (my line thru James 2, John 3,
Joseph 4, Eleazer 5 1747 MA - 1833 ME who m Lucy SHURTLEFF
went to Maine after the Rev War) and Daniel. Seems both families were
somewhere in NY in the 1750ish period and 3 couples plus an extra male
removed to the Shenandoah Valley area of western VA (along what is now
the I-81 corridor) abt 1760ish.
The last I knew, Judge Redmon COLE's data was in a library in Tulsa, OK.
It included many years of research and was not organized (late 1970's)
in a way that made it easy to research.
Hopefully, someone out there has more recent experiences with his vast,
invaluable data and can give this list better information than I. Also,
we now can utilize the DNA research to help identify how some of the
numerous COLE lines might be related or totally different in their
ancestry.

clue that will help a lot in identifying the correct Samuel. Location of the
birth of anyone or the marriage will help.

Hi Kenneth. I also am part of John Cole and Isabel Montgomery line. My
line however is with John Wesley's brother, William Harrison Cole, to Daniel
Boone Cole to his son John Milburn Cole, to my grandmother Annabell Cole
Watkins. Sorry to say I don't have our John Cole's parentage, it's a brick
wall to me, but would be glad to share any info with you that I have.
Thanks,
Vickie
