Hello Researchers of the Natchez MS Cole Family:
I am trying to prove or disprove the connection of my James COLE (my mother's ggggrandfather) to the Natchez COLE family. My James COLE was born ca 1784 and appears in Avoyelles Parish Louisiana around 1810-1820. He and his family stayed in Avoyelles and Rapides Parishes and did not move west into St. Landry Parish or Texas as did many of the Natchez COLE family.
One way to prove or disprove a connection of my James Cole to your Natchez Cole family would be to get a male COLE member of your family lines to participate in our COLE DNA Project which is being coordinated by Jerry Cole (see email address above). We have many participants so far but as of yet no one from the Natchez COLE family has joined. If none of them want to bear the cost ($159 for the 12 marker test last time I checked) maybe we could find one of the COLE males of this line to participate and all chip in a small amount each to cover the cost. I would be willing to contribute to this effort. Please give this request some thought and let me know if you think we can find a participant in your COLE line to help out. This knowledge will also tell us what other lines back east are connected with the Natchez COLE family. I know I am hitting you guys cold with this request but I could really use the help. If you are interested check out the COLE DNA Project at this website a!
ddress: http://www.familytreedna.com. At this site click on Surname Projects in the middle of the page, then click on the letter C under Y-DNA Surname projects and then select COLE/COLES for the current project info. Thanks very much for taking the time to read this and I hope someone will participate.
