I am also from the Daniel Cole line. There were more Daniels in that line
and makes it confusing. A lot of my information came from Carolyn Lynn, who is
one of the foremost researchers of Coles in Virginia. She is a cousin to me.
My information suggests that the Daniel Cole who married Elizabeth Ann
Whitehead and then, secondly, married May Ann Kelly, was possibly married another
time before Elizabeth Whitehead, because some of the children I have listed for
him were born before he married Elizabeth. Elizabeth died in 1803 and he
married Mary Ann Kelly in 1804. My information also is that Elizabeth was from
Prince William County, which of course is practically next door to Culpeper
County.
My great-great grandfather was Matthias Cole, son of a Daniel, and brother
to the Daniel who married Elizabeth Whitehead and Mary Ann Kelly. And of
course I am interested in any information you may have. I have never researched
Elizabeth Whitehead's family, but now you've got my curioisity up! I have no
other information on her. If I can't find out anything in the internet, the
best place to look would be if they have any information on the Whiteheads at the
RELIC section of the Bull Run Library in Manassas, VA. I don't live around
there but do have some contacts there.

Cole List,
I found a 2000 message on this List's Archives regarding
this late 1700's-early 1800's couple. I attempted to reply
to the person that posted the query, but the e-mail address
was no longer active.
Is anyone out there that might be interested in this couple
from Prince William and Culpeper Counties, VA? I will paste
in my note to the 2000 query:
To: jcole(a)proaxis.com
Was just searching Google, entered my 4-great grandmother's
name, Elizabeth Whitehead Cole, and came up with your post
to an e-mail query list.
I too descend from Daniel COLE and Elizabeth WHITEHEAD. My
descent is through their daughter, Frances "Fanny" COLE
KELLY who married Thomas KELLY, Jr. and migrated to Highland
County OH, where they are buried.
A couple of interesting notes, in case you are not aware:
1-Daniel COLE was a Revolutionary War pensioner from Prince
William Co VA.
2-Daniel's Father was a Daniel COLE, also (Sr.?)---named in
his pension.
3-"Our" Daniel COLE, after Elizabeth Whitehead's death,
married a KELLY, sister to my Thomas KELLY, Jr..
See anything or way that we might help each other?
Personally, I am seeking proof that Elizabeth WHITEHEAD was
the daughter of Anthony WHITEHEAD of Prince William &
Culpeper Counties. Any help?

Last summer I bought an old leather photo album at a flea market in Denver. Most of the photos seem to have been taken in the early part of the 20th century up to perhaps 1950. I intended to sell these vintage photos on eBay. When I got them home, I noticed there were names on some of the photos and felt that I just could not break up this collection without making an attempt to find the descendants of the people in the photos to see if they would like to have the album returned to the family.
Most of the people have the last name Cole.
Here are some of the names:
Spence Cole
Chester Cole (Spencer and Chester are quite old in most of the photos. They are tall and thin with white hair and mustaches. They look like they might be twins or very close in age.)
Harold Cole
C.H. Cole, Spence, Maggie and Margaret
Margaret, Chester and Lilyan Cole
Maggie, Elsie and Ruby
Ada, Lilly, Margaret

Arthur Ruch

I have done a quick genealogy search but have not found any good matches.
Ironically, I have some ancestors myself with the name Cole. Here are my Coles:
Isaac Cole, b. 1595-1606 d. June 10, 1674, Middlesex, MA Wife- Joanna
Abraham Cole, b. Oct. 3, 1636 Middlesex, MA Wife- Rebeka
Elizabeth Cole, b. 1664 Staten Island, NY d. 1738, Husband - William Elston, m. 8/20/1682
It's kind of interesting to think that I just happened upon this album at a flea market on a hot summer day and that I might acutally be related to them in some way. I guess it was just meant to be.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who may know any of these people.

Hello Cole researchers,
I am new to this List and am hoping that someone can provide me with some information or insight.
On the 1830 census in the town of Canton, Trigg Co, KY is the following entry for a James Cole:
1 male age 30-40
1 female age 30-40
1 female under age 5
There is also a marriage record in Trigg Co. for the following:
Married in Trigg Co. on June 16, 1829
James Cole and Dicey Perry
I suspect this census record and the marriage record are for the same people.
Does anyone have any information or insight as to who this James Cole and Dicey Perry were and what might have happened to them after 1830?
I have a strong hunch that the female listed as under age 5 on the 1830 census record was my g-g-grandmother Ann Mariah Cole, who was born around 1830 in the town of Canton in Trigg C. She married my g-g-grandfather Bedford Pettypool in Trigg Co in 1852.
I would appreciate any information or replies on this.

A "cousin" sent me this from her disk with early NH names, after seeing my
post on EUNICE COLE's witchcraft history. Thought I would share this with COLE,
