Looking for any information on the branch of the Capron family who tenant
farmed on Solomon Cole's farm, and fled to VT following the Wyoming Valley
Massacre of 1778. I am trying to place this branch into the larger Capron

Hi April -
I have not run across an Ira in my Cole family ~ I have forwarded this

Sorry I couldn't be of any help.

I see you have Cole listed under surnames in Chautaugnac county NY. By any
chance would you have an Ira or have you run across Ira Cole?
I am looking for an Ira from Greene county NY. In his fathers(Eliaha) will of
1841, Ira is mentioned as living in Silver Creek, Chautaugnac county, NY. I
did find an Ira in the 1835 census in Hanover but do not know if he is the
Ira I am looking for.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
April

Hello Friends in MD. & nearby DE.
I am of advancing age and declining health so I much appreciate your
offer to research in the Maryland Archives. I am seeking info on my
mom's first family, COLE. James and Mary (nee Drennen) had several
children born in Cherry Hill (Cecil Co. ) MD. including her first
husband SAMUEL EDWARD COLE; He was born Aug. 23, 1885 I have never been
able to get birth records (or even a photo of him). The other children
who survived were:
William Calvin b. April 16, 1866
Ida B.(Mrs. Wm. Morrison) b. Feb. 19, 1869
Margaret (Retta, Mrs. Austin Lewis) b. Jan. 8, 1873
Elizabeth (Mrs. John McCreary) b. July 7, 1877
Tolbert Alexander b. May 21, 1880
George H. b. Feb. 5, 1883
Of course, I'm mostly interested in any info on Samuel but if you can dig
up anything on this family (most of whom are buried in the Methodist
Church Cemetery in Cherry Hill) I would really be most grateful. Be
well.

Its amazing what you notice at 4:00 a.m.
In my dataset I had used James Edwin-Cole The Genealogy of the Family of Cole
and Robert W. Barnes British Roots of Maryland Families to argue that the
Humphrey Cole listed on p. 27 of the former was the same Humphrey Cole listed
on p. 124 in the latter.
Particularly I had stated that the parents of Humphrey b. 1572 in Ipswich,
Suffolk, England [from Barnes] were William Cole b 158[7?] and Elizabeth
Deards the daughter of Nicholas Deards of London, silkman [Don't jump to the
conclusion about the birth dates yet.] The grandparents would have been
William Cole of London d. 16 Feb. 1600 and Ann Colles the daughter of Michael
Colles of Bradwell, Bucks. [from Edwin-Cole]
What I noticed this early morning was that while Barnes agrees Humphrey's dad
was a William Cole, he states that his grandfather was Robert Cole a
clothworker of Stratford, Sussex who died leaving a will dated 29 Jan. 1527.
Most likely then, neither the William Coles nor the Humphrey Coles of the
authors would be the same.
Okay, I admit that I'm probably the only one to make this mistaken
connection. And how could I miss the miracle of a son being born before his
father <g>. Since my GEDCOM submitted to Rootsweb WorldConnect makes this
William - William -Humphrey connection I hereby use this mailing list to
state that I am stepping back a little from that connection until I can
modify my submission to WorldConnect.
Now, I will not abandon it altogether. Neither Edwin-Cole nor Barnes gives
the birth dates I was using [see, I told you not to jump (:>)]. And Barnes
states Robert's son, William, "may have been" the ancestor of Humphrey. And
later Humphrey is "a possible son or grandson" of William. So, Edwin-Cole's
Humphrey and Barnes' Humphrey still might be the same person.
If anyone else in interested, I welcome their comments. Because my phone
company and I may be arguing in a little while don't take my unresponsiveness
as disinterest. You may want to write me at 765 Hail Dr., Rockwall, TX
75032 to discuss this further.

Their daughter:
Elizabeth COLE, baptised 9th July, 1720, Timberscombe, Somerset.
Her base-born son (father unknown):

Their daughter:

Best wishes,

I've "rescued" a group of old photographs and documents belonging to the
DAUBER/SCHAUB and DAUBER/COLE families. The items included are:

Magdalene DAUBER) and Jacob R. SCHAUB, wedding being held in Attica, NY on
20 November 1907
#2 - Wedding Keepsake booklet including marriage certificate for Jacob
Robert SCHAUB and Lillian Sybyl DAUBER, John F. LEFFLER, Pastor of the Meth.
Epis. Church performed the ceremony which was witnessed by Al A. HOMMEL and
Nettie C. DAUBER
#3 - Photo of Sisters, Lill DAUBER SHAUB and Eva DAUBER COLE (spelled
exactly as it appears) taken at the M. F. Hills Studio in Attica, NY
probably in the early 1900's with both girls appearing to be in their teens
at the time
#4 - Family Group Photograph (24 children and adults) includes both the
women pictured in #3, taken at someone's home by photographer E.K. Cooper of
Varysburg, NY
#5 - Photo of Lillian DAUBER SCHAUB taken at the Hills Studio in Attica, NY,
probably around 1910-1920 and the subject may be pregnant at the time
#6 - Photo of Lillian DAUBER SCHAUB & Jacob Robert SCHAUB with three
children taken at the P.B. Housekeekt Studio in Batavia, NY, probably taken
between 1915-1920 with the children appearing to be 5-12 years of age at the
time
#7 - Photo of just the children same as #6
#8 & #9 - small photographs of Lillian DAUBER SCHAUB & Jacob Robert SCHAUB
probably taken in the late 1890's or early 1900's when they were just
teenagers, no location
#10 - another version of #5
#11 - Photo of Lillian DAUBER SCHAUB & Jacob Robert SCHAUB of Attica, NY
taken at the Mountain Studio in Buffalo, NY, probably taken in the early
1900's with the couple appearing to be in their early 20's, maybe an
engagement or wedding photograph since the order for additional photo cards
appears on the back of this photo
My hope is that someone from this family can be located so that this
beautiful group of family photographs and heirlooms can be returned to its
rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family or know
someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
Good morning to all,
I was searching for Revolutionary war records on an ancestor and came
upon this site. The site owners have compiled the information from
family bible pages that were ripped out of family bibles and attached to
Revolutionary war pension applications. There were no copy machines back
then and this was the only way that a widow or pensioner could provide proof of
marriage and children to the government so that they could receive their
pension. There is an index provided and they have information on the individuals listed below.
Rates (about $18 per name) are listed at the site. I haven't used them
personally but figured that maybe it would help someone with their
research.

No, I haven't visited the cemetary, but my father-in-law has the death of
William listed as November 3, 1869 in Cass Co.
My husbands family is through William and Ellen's son Robert.
Do you know anything about Ellen's father Moses Samuel?
Thank you,
Kathy Cole

AFter looking and looking, I think I've found Jacob Cole's (born 1767)
spouse Winnifred. Here is how I did it:
Jacob Cole was on the tax Index list for Hancock County in 1794 and 1796.
In 1794 he is living next to a Boling Corton. I used the tax districts to
determine that he was Jacob Cole's next door neighbor. I looked and looked
, but could only find a few Cortons anywhere. Then I started looking at the
1796 Tax Index and found Boling Cureton. Oh, I thought, Boling Corton was a
misspelling of Cureton. Okay, I looked up Boling Cureton in the LDS site.
He was born about the same time as Jacob Cole. So I went to his father.
When I clicked on the family for Richard Cureton and Martha Anderson, I
found in the family list, a Boling and a Winnifred. Winnifred was born,
according to this listing, about 1779. I believe that this Winnifred was
the wife of Jacob Cole and that they were living next to her brother in
Hancock County in 1794 and 1796. Cureton is a tough name to spell.
The listing in the LDS site says that Winnifred was born in Sparta, Hancock,
GA. It looks like the father Richard Cureton was born in Duck Creek
Delware.
