Don't know this family, but sure is coincidental that a child is named
Ransom. See Alabama family below. Any more info on your family, and a

Hi Judy. Do you know where in Vermont your Ebenezer Cole came from? Years
ago when researching my Cole line, which I now know was descended from
Robert Cole, an original proprietor of the Providence Plantation in Rhode
Island, a kind researcher sent me a copy of a book he had gotten from an
uncle-in-law. In the beginning chapters, the book had sections taken from
the book, The Descendants of James Cole of Plymouth 1633 by Ernest Bryon
Cole published in 1908, with additional information added by James Henry
Cole, on more descendants of James Cole through James Barton Cole of
Illinois. In the fourth generation listed in this amended book was an
Ebenezer Cole, b. Swansea, Mass. 29 Mar 1712, died Shaftsbury, Vermont, 22
Mar 1794. He m. Mary Bosworth, May 19, 1734, and she d. in Rehobeth, Mass.
July 16, 1739. He m. (2) in Rehobeth, Mary Wilson, June 10, 1740, b. Oct.
17, 1714, d. in Shaftsbury, Vermont, 26 Mar 1794, dau. of Benjamin and
Elizabeth Wilson. They were the parents of 7 children, of whom 3 were sons,
Parker, David and Benjamin. The book I have only traces the line of their
son Parker Cole. It seems probable that either David and Benjamin may have
had children and one may have been named Ebenezer after his grandfather.
However, the book does state that "Parker Cole was the only son of Ebenezer,
who remained in Shaftsbury"; however, that does not mean the other sons did
not stay in another town within Vermont. I would suggest you try to get a
hold of this book and lookup the descendants of the 4th generation Ebenezer,
or even his brothers, because sometimes people named children after their
own siblings! Good luck. bb

I research John Wesley, Samuel and Benjamin F. Parker - Virginia in 1797,
SC, GA until about 1844, Alabama 1844 where descendants are still found. I
appreciate any help in this search.
Thanks,
Marty
I don't have a clue. In my research I'm back to Jacob Cole b. 1767. He
married a Winneford b. abt. 1770. I don't know where Jacob Cole was born.
He could have been an immigrant. Don't know Winnie's maiden name. They are
listed as early settlers of GA. Jacob was in GA abt. 1785. They moved to
SC, Kershaw Co., abt. 1815 and stayed until 1830 or so. Then moved back to
GA. Lived in various counties of GA. I've been working on this for abt. a
year with no luck finding who Jacob Cole's parents were. I've never heard
the name Pilmore.
One interesting thing: There is a Stephen Cole, also b. 1767, from TN, I
believe, who has the exact birthdate of our Jacob Cole. I don't know if
they could have been twins or what. The birthdate is Nov. 16, 1767. I have
found a Job Cole from England who had the birthdate Nov. 16, 1765, but no
other clues. I have also seen the names Stephen and Jacob interchanged in
records of the Coles, but I don't know if this is the result of someone's
error way back. I have been told that my family found Jacob Cole's
birthdate in a Collier genealogy file in SC. Jacob Cole's daughter Nancy
Anne married Randolph H. Collier from SC.
Jacob Cole b. 1767
married Winneford NMN abt. 1789
Children:
William J. Cole married Susannah/Susan Gardner
Nancy Anne Cole married Randolph H. Collier
Henry Cole Not sure of his birth order no info on him

Paula, I have a Temperance Cole, who was my great aunt b. 1825 in TN. D.
1911 in Goodlettsville. Was married first to a Norman and then a Pilkinton.
Her sister Anna Mathis Cole was my great grandmother. I understand that
their parents were Pilmore Cole
An Lydia Shivers I think the Coles and Shivers probably came to TN from N.C.
Do you think there is a connection. Edwina

I was looking through some CW pension index records. I have seen people
posting about Leven Cole, and I saw a Missouri CW pension card with Eleven
Cole written on it. How odd! Bless his heart. He must have been the
eleventh child. He's lucky his name wasn't caboose. (I think they did have
trains by then.)
