Hi List:
Searching for a child born around 1916-'17 or '18 in Hartford, CT. to
CLARA GUSBERG (who married Samuel Edward Cole in Hartford, CT. in Aug.
1917) I believe the child (gender unknown) was placed up for adoption.
When I requested information on this even in CT. I was told the
information could not be released because of CT. Statute 7-51 (which I am
not familiar with). Anyone with information on this birth please contact
me directly. Thank you.

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Genevieve COLE of Newport, New York.
The photograph was taken at the M. DeVer Westcott Studio at 8 1/2 Main St in
Cortland, NY. I believe the photograph was probably taken in the 1890's and
may have been at her graduation from the Cortland Normal School. Genevieve
appears to be in her 20's at the time the photograph was taken.
I'm hoping to find someone from her family so that this lovely photograph
can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of
this family or know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley

Be careful of posting any of your information on One Great Family. Just like
Genealogy.com, they take ownership of the data you've researched, and sell
it for profit. They advertise as an altruistic site to allow the world to
become one great family, but please read the fine print. Take it from one
who was taken in.....Regards, Cinda in Colorado
The time has come for another experiment -- the messages you receive through
this list should now have a prefix indicating the list name.
We originally chose to go without the prefix when many of our members were
still using mail programs that displayed only a limited number of characters
of an incoming subject line. In some cases, the prefix took up more than
half of the viewable subject line -- rendering the subject line essentially
useless.
If this change creates a hardship for you, please write to me off-list.

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Birdella & Odin CHRISTIANSON taken at
the Emilie Hill Studio in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. The photograph appears
to have been taken in the early 1900's when the two children were just 3-5
years of age. In addition to their names someone has written "Odin passed
away many years ago, Birdella now Mrs. Jim COLE at Pelican Rapids, Minn" on
the back of the photograph.
Based on limited research, I believe that Odin was b. 15 December 1900 and
d. 15 May 1970 at Sauk Centre, MN, and that Birdella CHRISTIANSON COLE was
b. 30 Mar 1901 and d. 31 October 1994 at Wahpeton, ND and lived in
Washington State prior to that time. I'm hoping to locate someone from
their family so that this precious photograph can be returned to its
rightful place within their family.
If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please
contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
Hello everyone,
I am new to your list.
I am hoping that somebody can help me find out about Ethel COLE. Before marriage she was Ethel STANCOMBE and she was born in 1889 in Paddington. She married a Mr COLE and they had a daughter named Audrey.
Before she married Mr COLE she was married to a Mr FOWLER. A little confusing.
Im hoping somebody can help me.

Today I went to the library and found a marriage between a Major Cole and a
Fanny Jones. It was a SC marriage, I believe. Does this ring a bell with
anyone?

Allen Co. Public Library Closing Announcement
--------------------------------------------
Closing Date Announcement
Genealogy Department of the Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne, Indiana
-
--------------------------------------
The Historical Genealogy Department of the Allen County Public Library will close for relocation on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at 6pm. The department will remain closed through the month of January 2003. This is to allow time to move all our materials to our interim location. The current
building will be going through renovation and expansion.
-------------------------------
Will materials be available?
-------------------------------
All our research materials will be available up until Saturday, December 14 at 6pm. At that time the department will be closed so we can move all our materials to our interim location. When the library opens at that
location, we will have all our books, microforms and periodicals ready for research.
------------------------------
Why will we be closed?
-----------------------------
Closing the department will allow us to move the whole collection at once instead of doing it piecemeal. This will ensure that the materials you are coming to Fort Wayne to use for your research will be available when you
arrive, offering the full collection for our researchers. If we moved pockets of materials, what you needed for your research might not be available. By moving the whole collection at once it will ensure that the materials you are interested in will be available until we close on December
14th, and when we reopen in late January 2003.
----------------------------------------
Where will the interim location be?
----------------------------------------
The interim location of the Allen County Public Library will be at 200 East Berry St., Fort Wayne, Indiana. Locally, it is called Renaissance Square. It is 5 blocks to the east from the current library. There will be limited free parking available; there is also a pay parking garage across
the street and more than 150 metered spaces in close proximity.
----------------------------------------
What will the interim location be like?
---------------------------------------
One of the most exciting things about our interim location is that the genealogy collection will be a browsing collection. All the materials will be out and available for the researcher to retrieve them. Materials will
not have to be paged; the shelves will be open.
----------------------------
How long will we be in the interim location?
--------------------------
The projected time frame is 2-3 years.
-------------------------
How can I find out more information?
-------------------------
Visiting the library web site http://www.acpl.lib.in.us or phoning the department at 260-421-1225 is the best way to get current relocation information.
This is a very exciting time for all of us, librarians and researchers alike. Our goal is to keep our patrons informed and continue to offer the highest level of customer service possible now, in our interim location, and in our newly renovated library.
For further contact, please phone the department or email Curt Witcher, Manager, Historical Genealogy Department-ACPL at cwitcher(a)acpl.lib.in.us or Susan Kaufman Tavenner, Librarian, Historical Genealogy Department-ACPL at
skaufman(a)acpl.lib.in.us
Please publish and/or pass this information on to all others that might be interested. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Curt Witcher, Manager, Historical Genealogy Department
Susan Kaufman Tavenner, Librarian, Historical Genealogy Department
