Hello Jan ...
I struck out when I looked for something/anything to might connect with your
Irena Cole/Lyman Drake.
Since I've posted what I had on Coles from this source, I hoped looking at
Drake would supply a hint, but there was only one listed which offered
nothing in date, location or date ... all way off.
Sorry,
clemi

Hello all ...
9 & 10 Dec 1705
William COLE (a planter) of St. Annes Parish, VA sold 70 acres to George
LOYD of St. Annes Parish. This acreage was located in St. Annes on the south
side of Occupacey Creek and near the path to Occupacey Mill. He also sold
48-1/2 acres adjoining above the Mill dam on the line of Edward Rowzee's
line. This was signed by William COLE's mark. Eliza COLE (identifed as his
wife) relinquished her dower rights on this document. Witnesses: Richard
BUCKNER, Will. TAYLOR, James LANDRUM (by his mark). This document was
acknowledged and received 11 Dec 1705.
The original document may be found at Tappahannock, VA in Record Book No.
11.
This is all I know about the above. I've no idea if these are my people, but
it looks like a primary source to obtain if they belong to you.

This message is really for the administrator, not the list:
My apologies for an inappropriate answer to Roll Call. I have just joined
the list and I think I made an assumption that proved false: that you were
doing a general Roll Call similar to what some other lists have done. You
were very nice to handle this tactfully, and I'll try to conform to list
practice in future.

I have little data on my Cole line other than a Mary Cole born in ca 1798 in
Delaware married a William Van Horn and they lived in Tippancanoe Co Ind in
1820swhere their son John Van Horn born in 1828 was born. Any data
appreciated. Best Wishes Elaine s88897(a)aol.com
My name is Roberta Cole Lader, descended from Elisha Cole, Carmel, Putnam
Co., NY. Current research interests are:
Stephen W. Carver, son of (Hosea) Barnabas Carver, who married Julia
(Juliette) Ballard, and whose two daughters are my great grandmothers.
Hannah Ann Carver m. Henry Clay Cole (Allen, Jesse, Daniel, Elisha).,
Carmel, NY and had John R. Cole (my grandfather), and her sister Alida
Valnetta Carver m. Asbury Daniel Hadden, Putnam Valley, NY, and had Bertha
May Hadden, (my grandmother) who married John R. Cole (above). I need birth
dates/death dates for both Stephen and Julie, as well as for Stephen
Carver's mother Hannah Towsend, daughter of Priscilla Cole and Gen. James
Townsend. Priscilla Cole was one of Elisha's daughters. Am also interested
in any primary documentation that Priscilla Cole and James Townsend actually
had a daughter named Hannah and that said daughter actually married (Hosea)
Barnabus Carver, son of Timothy Carver, Jr. Carmel NY.

If your COLEs can be traced to "the Carolinas" before 1800, you may find this
site very helpful:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/3837/sc_countyhistories.html
It includes several maps that show the old districts with respect to modern
county boundaries. Please note that all four of the original districts ran
from northwest to southeast, so included portions of the disputed border area.

Yes -- you may still post queries or information about any COLE line!
That's a very important part of our current experiment, which is designed to
find out whether focusing attention on a particular branch of the family is
more effective than the somewhat random, spontaneous posts. I want to see
normal list traffic continue, with a slight addition for the specific roll
call. The only difference is that "routine" posts get no more of my
attention than usual, but "roll call" posts contribute to a new web page.
<< I think the list members are hesitant to post other information at this
time, because they/we are confused with your experimental roll call
instructions. There sure have not been very many postings of late. >>
The lull in posts to the list has been accompanied by an explosion of posts
to the COLE message board [which I also administer] as more people discover
its advantages for simple queries. A query posted to the message board is
accessible by the general search engine, while one posted to the list is
accessible only when someone deliberately searches the archives of our list.
One posted to the list is immediately received by all list members. On
balance, if you want your message to be seen by the most people over an
extended period of time the MB is your best bet but if you are looking for an
immediate response from others researching your line a post to the list is
more appropriate.
"Confusion" could certainly be a contributing factor -- so I'll be glad to
answer further questions about the purpose of the list and how we can make
effective use of all of the resources now available to us.

Hello.
I am looking for the family of Walter and Minnie (Tennihan ) Cole. They
were married in Boston MA on April 30, 1910. I have some information but
looking for more. Minnie is my cousin.
Thank you.
Bob Tennihan
South Boston MA
While we're kind of on hiatus, I thought I'd ask for information from everyone. I am looking for information on the family of Cole's who lived in the Wyoming Valley of PA, survived the 1778 Indian Massacre there, and eventually went to New York, Livingston and Ontario counties, around 1820 until 1845. This family would have included Ezra Cole, his wife Althea Capron, their son Ezra, and his wife Eliza Ann Barber. Around 1845 this family , minus the elder Ezra, headed west to Wisconsin, Ashippun Township, Dodge County. They raised a large family there, and many moved on to California and Missouri. Their son Myron married Lucy Jane Patterson, daughter of Amplias Blake Patterson and Margaret Mosher. If anyone has any information on descendents still liveing of Myron and Lucy Jane Cole, or any information on them while in New York, please contact me. Cinda Marsh
Is it permissable to post to the Cole List ?
May we post queries or information about Cole Lines other than what you asking for, on your Roll Call ?
Or are we supposed to limit our postings to the family line you asked about on the roll call ?
I think the list members are hesitant to post other information at this time, because they/we are confused with your experimental roll call instructions. There sure have not been very many postings of late.
Mary (Cole) Bickford,
confused, (as always) in TX.

Hi List, I also was wondering if there was still a list. I enjoy receiving
them since I do not like going to the boards. I also have not receive any

Does anyone have information on the ancestry of George COLE and Sarah HAYS
who were married in Grant Co., Indiana in 1904? They had a son Edwin H. COLE.

Yes, but it's nature has changed a bit since the merger of the GenConnect and
FamilyHistory boards. The new message boards support threaded chit-chat,
which makes sense when viewed as posted but is next to impossible to follow
when forwarded to the list so I've closed the gateway. I plan to post more
information about the new boards and how to use them when the situation has
stabilized -- but I can tell you that these boards are designed for queries.
Our latest project is a roll call of families from the disputed border area
of NC/SC as this type of information-sharing works better on a list.
