married to Rhoda Ann Hubbard.
***** Laura Sarah Cole, born 04 Aug 1836 in Liberty, Clay, Missouri, USA.
married to Joe Lish (not sure since she died at age 27).
***** John Cole, born 08 Jun 1838 in Far West, Caldwell, Missouri, USA.
***** William Ether Cole, born 28 Jan 1841 in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois,
USA. married to Cora Mrs. Elsberry.

Hello, I'm Jennifer and I'm trying to find out more about
my great-grandmother Flossie Phoebe Cole.
She was born on the 27th of May in 1902; Okaley, MI.
Her parents were Franklin A. Cole and Elise Laura Harrington.
That's all I know and it's not enought :) so any help would
be greatly appreciated.
Jennifer M.
Am looking for information on the following:
Obit: Oct. 26, 1989. William J. B. Cole, 59, of Ash Flat, died Tuesday at a Little Rock Hospital. Born at Cushman, the son of John W. and Mary Richardson Cole. Survivors include wife Lorene E. Jones Cole, three sons; brothers Rosevelt Cole and Charlie Cole, both of Independence MO, 2 sisters, Magaline Cole of Independence and Veda Painter of Leachville, etc.
I do know that Veda Cole married Frank Painter.
Merry Christmas,
Gene Johnson
I'm researching a Cole family in Independence County, AR. 1860 census
shows John W. Cole 30 born TN with wife Elizabeth 23 (Mary Elizabeth Painter, daughter of William Painter and Hepsey Epps) born TN. Children were: Wm. H. 7, John W. 4, Jacob A. 3, George A. 10 mos. Living with this Cole family was one George W. Howard 18 from KY and wife Susan E. 17 born TN.
Later records indicate that Wm. H. Cole m. Hester Ann Tosh, John W. Cole m. Nancy Jane Francis, Jacob A. Cole m. Elizabeth Francis, and George A. Cole died young.
Six houses down (1860) is Anderson Cole 22, brother of John W. Cole, and Anderson's wife Lucy Easter Cummins.
1880 census Independence County, AR, finds John and Mary Elizabeth with
additional children: Franklin Price Cole 17 (my g-grandfather), Larry J. 15, Nancy J. 13, Hepsey 11, Sarah 6, Fannie 4.
1880 census next door to John and Mary Elizabeth are: their son John
W. Cole 25, Nancy J. (Francis), John 5, Mary Elizabeth 2, Lucinda 6mos.
Later records show that Hepsey Cole m. Henry Spark Wren, Franklin Price Cole m. Alice Nora Pierce and Larry J. Cole married Hannah Catherine Marlin.
Some of these Cole families migrated to OK before 1900. John W. Cole d. 1900 and Mary Elizabeth Painter d. 1904 are buried in Sequoyah Co., OK, and Hepsey Cole Wren lived there before she finally moved to Fannin Co., TX.
My John W. Cole has been traced back to Lincoln County, TN, son of John Cole m. Nancy (Graves). TN is where I'm getting bogged down. Deed records show the neighbors of John Cole: Pinkney Pylant (mother was a Renfrow), Ledbetter family and several Armstrong families. Several of John Cole's children married Armstrongs.
Daughter Elizabeth m. Hugh Montgomery Epps. John Cole died in Lincoln County, TN, 1844. I find his widow and several children in 1850 LCT living 6 households away from James D. Cole, Baptist preacher who married Eglantine Leftwich. Nancy and children are surrounded by relatives of this James D. Cole.
John Cole is buried in Belleville, TN, with his wife Nancy, in Stone Cemetery. Others buried there are Prossers, Sherwoods, H. M. Epps. I have group sheets on James D. Cole, Pinkney Pylant and others. I suspect John Cole and James D. Cole may have been cousins, but I can't quite put it all together.
Lawrence Cole b. 1865 AR was the brother of my g-grandfather Franklin Price Cole. Larry's wife was Kitty Marlin, and son Arch J. COLE was born IT Feb. 1894. I found Arch J. living with a SWAFFORD family 1920 census OK, listed as son-in-law and married to Ora A. SWAFFORD, whose parents were from GA. A grandson Winfred could be their child.
My g-grandfather was born in Cushman, AR 1861 d. TX 1952. Franklin Price Cole's father was John William Cole, and his siblings were Jacob A., John William Jr., George A., Nancy Jane, Hepsie Mary, Sarah Malinda, Fannie, Lawrence and William Henry. Franklin Price Cole m. Alice Nora Pierce from MO. Their children were Frankie, Mable, Mary, Hayden (my grandfather), Hulda, Coy, Roy, Clyde and Lloyd (died young).
Sincerely,
Gene Johnson

I am looking for location information if you have ever discovered in your
research a Stephen Clay Cole who married Laura Francis Henderson. He would
have probably been born around 1820-40, most likely in NC or TN. Their
daughter Laura was married 7-26-1883 at the home of Mrs Sary Francis Cole in
Johnson Co, Ill. Laura Francis Henderson is possibly a sister or twin to
Sarah Francis Henderson (Cole) who was married to Charles Slevle Cole, the
brother of my ggrandfather. I am looking into the possibility that Stephen
Clay Cole was another brother. Any information on records where you have
seen this name would be appreciated. Please reply directly to Gordon at

Please contact me if you have Whatleys, Dukes, Dumases, Colliers, Gardners,
Suttons as well as Coles. These families were friends AND relatives of my
Cole family. The Whatleys, Dukes and Dumases appear on various legal
documents relating to my families.
Also, if you have a Winniford that you believe married a Cole, we are
looking for the maiden name of one Winneford/Winnie who married Jacob Cole
between 1789 and 1792. She may have been a Duke, a Dumas, or a Whatley.
Just not sure. Winnie would have been born abt. 1770.
