And had a sister name Martha Ann Cole who married a George Kennel (SP should
be Kendall) or Kennill in the Montgomery County Marriage License they spelled
the last name as Kennill in that book ..
Her date of birth is 5/1878
Any information is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance ..
Jan
My g-g-g-grandmother, Velora (also known as Van Lora, Venlora, Polly, and Ione) Straton married Lemuel Leach in Burlington, Vermont probably around 1812. Both Velora and Lemuel were born in the Green Mountain State, Velora on Nov 20, 1796 and Lemuel in 1790. The couple raised 4 sons; Milo, Alonzo, John, and Lemuel. Alonzo, the second oldest, was born on 27 Jan, 1823 in Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.
After her husband Lemuel died, probably between 1830 and 1839, Velora married my g-g-g-grandfather, Ezra Cole. (Ezra was born in 1790 in Williamstown, Massachusetts and his family moved from Williamstown to Wells, Rutland County, Vermont in 1793)). They had 3 children, only one of whom, my g-g-grandfather, George Lester Cole, survived in to adulthood. George was born on 27 August, 1840 in Jefferson County (I believe in LeRay), New York.
The information I am looking for is as follows:
1. The date of Velora and Lemuel Leach's marriage...and the names of each of their parents.
2. The date and location of Ezra and Velora's marriage...and the names of, the dates of birth and death of, the other two children born of this marriage.
Our Cole Family lived in Massachusetts, then Vermont, then New York, then Canada West, then Wisconsin, then Minnesota, then back to Canada in 1900 where we have remained ever since. The Leach and Cole families have been very closely connected for close to 200 years.

A few months back, many of us posted our William Cole who was a brick wall
and/or a lost sheep. I have a little bit more information on my William
Cole (much of it not proven), so I thought I would post again.
Here is what I had before (it was not much).
William Cole m. Vesta Clay England 5 Dec 1865 in Anderson County, Tennessee.
There were four daughters, Ida, Cordie, Sallie/Sarah, and Mollie/Mary.
Ida and Cordie (twins) were born 3 July 1868 in Knox County, Tennessee.
Sallie was born 29 Jun 1870 in Tennessee. Censuses and her death
certificate list only Tennessee as Sallie's birth place without giving a
county, and I hesitate to guess which county. It was probably Knox or
Anderson, more likely Knox. I have not yet found a birth place for Mollie.
I cannot find the William Cole family in the 1870 census. In the 1880
census, I found the family but there was no William Cole. Vesta, Cordie,
and Mollie were living together in Knox County. Ida and Sallie were living
in separate homes in Anderson county. I have found no trace of William Cole
(e.g., census or birth or christening record) before his 1865 marriage.
>From the 1880 census transcription, I did not know if William Cole died,
divorced, abandoned the family, or maybe even was in jail in 1880. I have
now examined the actual 1880 census entry for the family, and Vesta was
listed as a widow. From this I conclude that William Cole died about
1873/1880. So this is a minor bit of new information.
All census entries for William's daughters that list a birth place for their
father either omit it or say it was Tennessee. Sallie's death certificate
says he was born in Tennessee. The informant on the death certificate was
my grandfather, and he was very well versed in family history. (Sallie died
in 1942, and she was my grandfather's mother.) However, my aunt has a
family history file with some handwritten, unproven, unattributed notes that
say that William Cole was born in Virginia. The same notes say that he was
known as Will, he died in Blount County, Tennessee, and he was buried in
Ebenezer Cemetery in the Concord Community of Knox County, Tennessee.
I have not walked the cemetery myself (I doubt an 1880 stone would be
readable, anyway). But I have checked an enumeration of the cemetery at the
library which says it includes data both from stones and from cemetery
records. There was no William Cole. I need to follow up a little more,
walk the cemetery myself, and see what other records might be available for
the cemetery.
I long ago checked wills and settlements in Anderson County (the history of
this family is mostly in Anderson County) looking for William Cole without
success. But I can see now that I also need to check Blount County and Knox
County.
There is one more little tidbit that does tend to bring a ring of truth to
some of this. In checking the actual 1880 census, I noticed that Vesta,
Cordie, and Mollie were enumerated in District 10 of Knox County. According
to an 1895 map (the closest one I could find to 1880, the librarian says it
was close enough), District 10 was in the west end of Knox County and
incorporated the Concord community and the Ebenezer Cemetery. So Vesta was
living in 1880 close to where William was purported to have been buried in
1873/1880.
Ah, one more thing I almost forgot. I have suspected from his 1865 marriage
date that my William Cole was a Civil War soldier. I have found lots of
William Coles who were Civil War soldiers, but I have not thus far found any
good way to trim the list down to a reasonable size to do more research.
However (and as I reported to COLE-L before), I did find a George W. Cole
who served in the same unit as my gg grandfather John H. Peters. John H.
Peters' son Alva Peters married William Cole's daughter Sallie Cole, so I
thought there might be a connection. Everybody in my family goes by their
middle name anyway, so I figured maybe George W. Cole was George William
Cole, known as Will.
Well, I wrote off to NARA for the pension records of George W. Cole, and he
is not mine. In case this will help somebody, here is a bit of information
about George W. Cole. He served in the 5th Tenn. Infantry (Union). He was
AWOL for most of the war, but eventually the charges of desertion were
removed. His widow's pension was filed in Newton, Arkansas by Tabitha Ann
Cole, 6 July 1894. George died 21 Jan 1893. Children were Sallie Ann Cole,
Betty J. Cole, Alice Cole, George H. Cole, and Beugeman(?) H. Cole. There
are also affidavits from Carroll County, Arkansas. If this George Cole
belongs to somebody out there, let me know.
But in the meantime, did any of my new information help anybody connect up
with my William Cole?

Hi everyone,
I have been going to Clayton Genealogical Library in Houston. There is
always some confusion about Martha Patsy Cole and her husband. Some
sources call him John Hall and some call him John Wall. After checking
through their records, and looking at names, I discovered that the script
on the pages is very difficult to read, but according to the family
names, his name is John Hall. My main line is Cole, but also my
ggggrandmother is a Hall. Hope this solves the question and helps some
of you out!

Hello all,
I am interested in learning more about the COLE family in the general area
of Eastham, Massachusetts. I believe this family was descended from Daniel
COLE, however I have not been able to conclusively link my branch into it.
I am descended from Joseph COLE who married Tabatha TWINING on 31 Dec 1818
in Orleans, Barnstable, Massachusetts. I believe this Joseph COLE to be
the son of Abraham COLE and Martha GREEN of Wellfleet, Barnstable,
Massachusetts. I have leads on Abraham's parents but nothing conclusive.
If anyone has any ideas of resources that might help, or if anyone has
knowledge of these families, I would GREATLY appreciate any help!

Prime Minister of England who my grandmother played with as a child.
If this is of any interest then please contact me.
