Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Almost two months have elapsed with no reports of new problems, so I think
it's safe to conclude that no other members' computers were infected by the
virus that impersonates the RootsWeb listserver.
There are other mischief-makers out there, though, so I urge you to play it
safe:
1. If you get a suspect attachment, delete it WITHOUT opening it and
also delete it from your recycle bin.
2. If you want to send someone an attachment, like a photo or a GEDCOM
file, write them first so they'll know what to expect.

COLE Listowner
I am searching for a Warren A. Cole who was the founding member of the
Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was a native of Swansea, Massachusetts (as
are a number of other Cole people - but I can't connect him). He was born
around 1890 (maybe 1889). He attended both Brown University and Boston
University but I don't think he got a degree from either of them. He entered
Boston University in fall 1909.
In 1915, he listed himself as a member of the Patrons of Husbandry (the
Grange), the Loyal Order of Moose, and the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul Graham

Hello Howard, I too am researching this line of Coles. And it's no bed of
roses. John Cole is my 4th great grandfather. I am very interested in who
his parents are. I have reviewed the genforum....it seems there are
possibilities but nothing concrete.
After John died, Isabel married a Isaac Nickell, don't know if they had
children. One thing that I find strange is that after Johns death, she had
about 4-5 more children. My 3rd great grandfather, William Harrison Cole's
date of birth is 1816!!!! Was he in fact a son of Isaac Nickell or someone
else, and she just gave him the last name of Cole??!! This has made stop
and think here. If John Cole really was not his father, then my family
really isn't who we think we are. It's very strange. Keep in touch and if
you come across anything, please let me know.
Thanks, Vickie

Bonner,
I don't have any information on the particular Solomon Cole you are looking
for, but I think there is a possibility he is the son of Solomon Cole, born
1784 in Laurens, SC and Catherine ?; and grandson of Solomon Cole b.
11-3-1753 in Baltimore, MD, d. 1841 in SC and Mary Pinson b. 1757 in NC and
d. 8-1-1793 in Laurens, SC. If so, I have a great deal more information on
his ancestors, which you can find in the "User Home Page Genealogy Report:
Descendants of Humphrey Cole" on my Turner-Cole Family Home Page. (Note:
Solomon is descendant #41.) The URL is:

I have a small amount of information on COLE in Waldo and Kennebec
Counties in ME, and am looking for more. My maternal grandmother,
maiden name Hattie M. COLE, was born in 1896 in Burnham, ME. Hattie was
a daughter of Theodore A. COLE, b. Waterville, ME around 1850, and Eva
C. ROLF, b. Clinton, ME, in 1861. Hattie had several siblings,
including four sisters, Etta, Eva, Ida, and Inez. I understand Theodore
(d. Feb. 12, 1919) and Eva (d. 1938) are buried in Mount Cemetery in
Burnham.
I would like to find the ancestors of Theodore and Eva. If you connect
with either of them, please let me know!
thank you,

Hello Cole researchers,
I just received from the clerk of the Town of Hebron, Maine a xerox copy
of a page of entries in some type of vital statistic record book of
Hebron, Maine (title not provided). It says "Extracts from Vo. 1"
and lists Josiah Cole as having the following children:
A son, Samuel, b. April 6, 1799
A daughter, Sally, b. May 12 (?) 1800 [hard to read]
A daughter, Lavira (?), b. August 30, 1802 [hard to read her name]
A son, Josiah, b. October 10, 1805
I hope this information is helpful to someone. Let me know if you
connect, we may be able to help each other, as I am descended from the
son Josiah.
