For descendants of James Cole (and Mary Tibbes, not Mary Lobel) these are
good. They are not good for James and Mary.
Both of these links give James Cole the wrong wife. James married Mary
Tibbes, not Mary Lobel or Lobiel. William Cole of Enniskillen is very
unlikely to be James' father, also.
Search the archives for this list at
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/cole
in September 2000 ("Commentary on James Cole)
or
http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/isearch2
using a search in 2000 (and other years) for James and (Tibbes or Lobel)
will get you some hits
This was discussed in earlier years, too.

Hello everyone on the list,
I would like to share my great news with all of you. I have found my
birthmother and can now go on with my geneology search. We had a tearful,
but happy meeting. After 33 yrs, I am happy to find out who I am and where
my roots originate from.
A special thanks to all that gave me advice. I will continue to stay with
this list so that I can trace my roots back as far as I can.
Happy New Year to all

Happy New Year Everyone! I am new to the list, and would like to know if
anyone of you have any information regarding Matthew and Catherine Cole, ca
1775; Matthew born in Maryland, located to Lee County, VA., then on the
Owsley County, KY., around 1850. I have all the deeds (I think) that were
available, but no clues as to parentage of either.
I am also looking for info on Elias and Nancy Cole, who lived adjacent to
Matthew in Lee County. They are possibly in-laws or could be other
relationship. Elias and Nancy had two known children, Michael and Isaac;
one possible daughter, Matilda who married William Cole (a cousin?).
Matthew and Catherine are grandparents down the line, also Elias and Nancy
(family Bible). I am trying to sort out whose parents they were as well.
Any help appreciated so very much!

My site contains a lot of Coles. They are the Grayson Co VA Coles, that
spread out all over the country. Take a look. I have not connected
them to the above Coles, but they lived in adjoining counties.

Hi Listers,
I'm looking for the above mentioned man, his daughter, Nancy Cole and her sons. Nancy was b. @1800, Clairborne Co., TN,USA. There is no record of a husband, although there is record that she had @ 5/6 sons. My ancestor, (the only son I have a name for), George Cole was b.1820, Clairborne/Hancock co., TN,USA. He married Martha (Mattie) Baker on February 11, 1842 in TN, USA. They both moved to Decatur, IA, USA and later died there. He in 1894 and she on July 6, 1915. Their son, Andrew Jackson Cole, was my gggrandfather. One of my great aunts' remembers her mother telling her, that she remembered as a girl, braiding her grandfather's hair. Does anyone know these people? Can you help me? I've been subscribed to this list for a long time, unfortunately none of the queries have been familiar.
Thanks,
Jana
Dear COLE Clan,
I have cemetery inscriptions books and some marriage books for Branch County, Michigan and will do lookups for the COLE name .
If you have reason to believe that you had family in the Branch County, Michigan area, please give me what names and dates you have and a short note of other info pertaining to them.
Please limit each email to a couple names or one family.
PLEASE include the word "Lookup" in your subject line and be patient, and I'll get to you. If I don't get you an answer within a week or so, please send another request ( saying you didn't receive an answer yet) and include your information request again. Sometimes my fingers just do their own thing and delete before my brain kicks in.
Branch County is mid way between Detroit and Chicago along the Indiana boarder.
Send requests to me at : kanemj(a)pyramid3.net

Here's a good URL is you don't already have it and are searching a
Scotch-Irish connection. It is all three volumes of Chalkley's
Chronicles of a Scotch-Irish Settlement in VA, and has an index:

This is just a reminder, because we've had several messages lately that give
a URL without including the details that explain its relevance to COLE
research. That's a no-no!
To those who post URLs:
ALWAYS include the reason you think a URL should be of interest. It may seem
obvious to you, but our newbies may need to have it spelled out -- and we're
now into the time of year with the greatest influx of new members. Please
remember that not all of our members have unlimited Internet access. When
you post a URL, you are also volunteering to do lookups for those who can't
do their own -- so you shouldn't be surprised by the requests that come in!
To our lurkers:
1. If you are among the lucky ones with full Internet access, you'll find it
faster, easier -- and often a good learning experince -- to check out any
URL for yourself.
2. If you don't have full Internet access, just ask the member who posted
the URL to do a lookup for you -- off-list, of course -- because that's the
reason we have such posts.
3. If you don't get a timely response, please understand that many who post
URLs have unlimited Internet access themselves and are thus completely
unprepared for the volume of lookup requests they receive. If a week passes
without response, write to me off-list. Never, EVER, post your complaint to
the list!!!!! Lookup offers have become quite rare and such public
complaints just discourage other members who might be thinking of posting
one.
