We currently live in Bridgeport, CT so I can do research here. However, I don't think Bridgeport existed then; it was either Stratford or Stratfield (now Fairfield); both in Fairfield Co. I need some more info about the sources for this location, which will help me pinpoint it so I do some more digging.
I found a Sherman ancestor of my husband's, whose line also went to Nova Scotia. As it turns out, he is buried in a bell tower here in Bridgeport, less than 2 miles from our home.

Hi,
There has been a bit of discussion on a few lists re: 250th anniversary of
the Planters in Nova Scotia in 2010.
If it is a private group/committee thinking of doing something, have a look
at the following site, it may be useful: http://seawhy.com/L250.html .
A couple years ago Lunenburg's Grand Family Reunion was held as part of
Lunenburg's 250th Anniversary Celebrations. It was a great success, but a
long time in the planning stages.

Hello everyone,
In connection with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Planters
arrival to Nova Scotia, I am pleased to announce that a limited edition
reprint of /Planters & Pioneers, Nova Scotia 1749-1775/ (1982 Revised)/
by Esther Clark Wright will be available soon. For those of you who may
not be familiar with it, Planters & Pioneers contains years of research
by Dr. Wright to determine pre-loyalist and early European settlers in
Nova Scotia & New Brunswick. The book is 310 pages and includes more
than 25,000 names and family information gathered meticulously from
township records, registry of deeds, probate records, county and local
histories, census records, family histories, genealogies, and so forth.
Dr. Wright had hoped to publish future editions but the work ended with
her passing in 1990. /Planters & Pioneers/ is very rare because only a
few thousand copies were printed nearly 25 years ago. The re-print is
expected to be ready some time in August.
If anyone is interested in ordered a copy, or to get more information
about the book, feel free to send a message to
info(a)plantersandpioneers.com .

Gail
I beleive that Owen M and Fanny Amelia had the same gggfather, Jonathan Coldwell who died in Gaspereau in 1843 (born 1746 Bridgeport). That makes them 3rd cousins.
Does the obit. have anything of interest regarding family history?
Best wishes
John

Hello Lawrence,
I saw your 2000 post on Coldwell. Here's what I have. Maybe it's a piece of the puzzle.
I have a very old bible which was in my household as I was growing up in MA. I got it in 2005, after my father died.
It belonged to Owen M. Coldwell, of Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
He was the brother of my great grandfather, Enoch Coldwell.
He eventually settled in Saxonville, a suberb of Framingham, MA. My mother said as far as she knew, he was a bachelor. Also, he had another brother whom my mother believes was a bachelor, also. They resided together in a garage house on Concord Street. Their property butted against Enoch's property.
Inside the bible is the obituarie of Mrs. Fannie Amelia (Coldwell) King. I do not know how they were related.
Please e-mail me, or give me a call if you would like.
