Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hello all,
As you probably already know the Rootsweb mailing lists are being moved to a
new list management system. Our list has already migrated to the new
system.
So far there haven't been any major problems that I know of, although I have
come across a couple things that will be of interest:
1)You cannot have more than 10 recipients in your messages to the lists. If
you are sending a message to multiple lists please keep that in mind.
2)You can only subscribe in one mode per email address. If you were
subscribed in *both* list and digest mode prior to migration, when the list
migrated you will no longer receive digest mode. You may still subscribe to
both but you will need to use two email address. You can always use a free
Internet account such as hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc.
Please read below a few items of interest from Rootsweb:
The "-L" is being dropped from the "official" list name. This means the
"from" address your mailing list emails come from will be slightly
different- ListName(a)rootsweb.com vs. the current ListName-L(a)rootsweb.com.
You may have to adjust your spam filters or put the new address on your
"accept" list to prevent it from being caught in your "junk" folder.
You will be able to send mail with or without the "-L"
AOL users have reported some problems with receiving mail in a timely matter
and you can find additional information about this by subscribing to the
support group AOLers-RootsWeb Mailing List or simply reading through the
list archives.

The schedule and additional information can be found at the following link
which is updated as needed:

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me and I will do my best
to answer your questions.

Hi All,
My great-great grandfather James William Coldwell (1885-?) married Ada F. Henderson (1884-1974). According to census reports, they came the United States from Canada in 1906 with three children Clara B. (1903), and Mabel B. (1905). They settled in the Lowell, MA area and had many more children including my grandfather, Owen Stanley Coldwell, William G and Ella.
I am having trouble locating where they may have lived in Canada. I cannot locate any marriage records for James W. and Ada F.
Any information you may have is most welcome.
Thank you,
heather
