For one interested in such things, I suggest one consult "Parish Lines Diocese of Virginia" (ISBN 0-88490-062-2), particularly page 149. In brief, Stafford County was formed in 1664, and included Potomac Parish. Soon thereafter, Potomac was divided into 'upper' (Stafford) and 'lower' (Chotank) parishes. By 1702, Stafford Parish had become Overwharton and Chotank had become St. Paul's Parish. The St. Paul's Parish Register records survive from 1715 (Vestry somewhat earlier), and Overwharton from 1720.
So what happens for all those kids who may have been born before 1715? I am not familiar with the survivorship status of any records of Stafford (Parish) and/or Chotank as distinct from Overwharton/Stafford, if any, or those of Potomac, if any. I suspect that if they existed, then they would have been reported already. I submit that the missing entries were in St. Paul's prior to 1715, and possibly some in Overwharton prior to 1720 (which dates make sense, once you remove all the erroneous information from the Colclough compiled genealogies). Further, I suspect that the missing data is lost forever. One can hope, however, that some volumes will be returned to the public before they are ultimately destroyed by fire or flood, et cetera, and that said return will be in our lifetimes.
I know Bowling (as "Bolling") and Colclough (as "Cockley") exist in Overwharton, but I didn't see Kidwell in a cursory look. And clearly I haven't looked in ALL possible Parish Registers.
