I am looking for Death record information on the following 4 individuals:
1. Mattie Lee Coclough, born 1-14-1896 in Farmington, GA, dec. 1904 in
Farmington, GA, in a fire.
2. Conee Ella Coclough, born 12-1896 in Farmington, GA, deceased dec 1904 in
Farmington, GA in fire
3. Lula Money Coclough, female, born 4-1900 in Farmington, GA, dec 1904 in
Farmington, GA in fire
4. Judge Cohn Coclough, born? in Farmington, GA, dec 1904 in Farmington, GA
in
Fire
They all were born in Farmington, GA at the years listed except for the 4th
sibling, who I have no birth or death information specifically for him.
There is no known archive in the local newspaper for Farmington at the
Oconee County Regional Library, the next nearest library; Clarke-Athens
Regional Library or at the University of Georgia Library in Athens, GA. I
felt it was quite strange that the local newspaper had no archive. The two
libraries in Athens, GA had no listings for the year 1904 but, some for 1903
and 1905, which I felt was strange also. We feel that this was a case of
arson because my Great Grandparents were both African Americans, Arthur
Columbus Colclough, Sr was a very fair skinned African American man and his
wife, Mary Jane (Maddox) Colclough was a very dark skinned African American
woman. I could possibly have the year wrong but, the 5th sibling, the late
James Henry Colclough stated that the fire occurred the yea he was born,
which was 1904. Thanks.
