Hi Folks,
I saw something come across the Fentress Co., TN list
mentioning Granville County deeds. I will give the
abstract as it appeared to me, then below that,
questions:
===BEGIN===
Deed Bk. 3 Pg. 183
8 Dec. 1770 Wm. Riggan (Raggon) of Surry Co. VA to Wm.
Durham of Bute
Co. 15
pds:10 VA money for 100 A in Bute Co. on ES the Great
Branch adj.
Joseph
Raggon & Wm. Raggon. Wit. Henry Foot, Wm. Colclough,
John Riggan,
Damuel Durham.
Proved by Wm. Colclough Jr. Bute Feb. Court 1771, Ben
McCullough C.C.
Reg. 2
May 1771 Wm. Johnson P.R.
===END===
This says "proved by Wm. Colclough Jr." in 1771. How
many William Colcloughs could there have been in
Granville in 1771? I guess William Colclough who
married Mary Rogers would be one (he died in 1783).
But he left a will seemingly naming all his kids, but
not to include any William. So who could this William
Colclough, Jr. be? Or could the abstract have been
given in error? Or is it possible that the William
Colclough who married Mary Rogers *was* the Jr. If
that's the case, then who was "Sr."?
I appreciate all input.
Best,
Gregg

I read your posting. We may be related. My grandmother was a Colclough. I dont know much about her because she died when my dad was young. My dad has also passed but has a brother still living. I know there was Thomas, I am not sure if the Father was also named Thomas. My family also lived near Dazell. I went ther a couple of times in the 70's when I was a little girl with my father. Maybe we can chat and see how our information lines up. keep in touch. If you want to talk via voice, let me know.

thanks so much for all the help. as this family comes up in my warren, nc research, i am gonna guess that marsha's line might be most closely tied to the one i'm searching.
ok, y'all did so great on that question, let me ask another if i might. does anyone have knowledge of a senter (sentell) -colclough Bible kept in the courthouse in warren co, or know of a researcher i could pay to do a lookup & copying for me there locally? (if not, may have to take the scenic route & head to the outer banks on a research vacation next month. :))

I don't know if this helps either you Ida or Kimberly but here goes. My mother was Emma Rebecca Cllclough. She was born 1929 near Dazel in Rembert. Her parents were Thomas and Ella Colclough. Her mothers maiden name was Dennis. She had four brothers and two sisters. Hope this helps. My name is Charles Pinckney.

hey marsha, i have heard there is a senter (sentell) -conclough Bible located at the courthouse in warren co., nc. are you privy to that info, by chance? our 8 yr. search seems to come down to that brick wall. am trying to pay someone to go look up the info for me, but so far, no luck. i don't know much about this bunch, (my gram was a sentell) but your bolling references etc. represent alot of overlap to our data. it's got me thinking. would love to talk more to you about this. let me know when you can, please mam. new email address is: darallen814(a)yahoo.com thanks in advance for your time & consideration. deb
