Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
if you Used Ms Outlook
Do you have the W95.Hybris.gen virus?
Things you should know:
1) This site did "NOT" create the virus / worm.
This site "WAS" created in response to the virus / worm.
2) Hopefully, this site will help you get rid of the virus.
3) The domain was purchased on 12-11-2000, this virus was first
reported on 9-25-2000 (to my knowledge)
4) This site is in no way affiliated with any other site on the
Internet,
this includes sexyfun.com.
To make things perfectly clear: The virus is not coming from us in any
way. The return address has been faked. In all likelihood someone that
has you on their contact list (perhaps in MS Outlook?) is infected and
is
sending you the email with the faked return address. They are probably
doing this unknowingly. If anyone remembers the LoveBug Virus, then
you understand. Please read the information below, I hope you find it
useful.
Explanation:
I was first alerted of this virus when my companys antivirus
software started sending out alerts of infected attachments.
Naturally, I tried to trace where the email was being sent. A
simple check of the return email address indicated that it came
from the domain sexyfun.net. However, sexyfun.net didnt exist.
This was obviously a fake address. It was soon after that I
decided
to make the domain a reality. My hope was that other IT people,
as well as regular end users, would stumble across this page and
realize a virus infected them. Below are links to various
antivirus
sites, so that you can clean your system.
Symantec (Norton AntiVirus)

Esafe
F-Prot
Inoculan
McAfee
PC-cillin

Comments:
Once infected, I believe that the virus makes all outgoing
infected
emails have the Hahaha(a)sexyfun.net return address. I havent
been infected myself, so I am gathering this from observations of
the infected emails that have been sent to me. If anyone has
received an email with a return address other than
Hahaha(a)sexyfun.net, please email me and I will make note of it
on this web page.
This page was thrown up in 5 minutes. I plan to put up a better
page with more information for everyone. In the time being, I
urge everyone to get some antivirus software and make sure their
systems are clean.
Also, if you have any information that you think would be helpful
to others, email me and I will see about adding that to this page
also. Perhaps a forum of sorts would be helpful.
I hope this finds you all well. If you don't mind, I thought I'd take a
minute and let you know that I've been working on some genealogy pages for
my family. After working all night, I finally got a new page up in the wee
hours this morning.
This one is about me and my family, so if you'd kind of like to see who's
behind these pages, and who's behind being the list mom, feel free to take a
peek. :O)
I must warn you, there are a lot of graphics on the page, after this many
years, I've managed to collect a lot.
