We are building a Rogers/Rodgers Family Database and would be very
interested in any Rogers/Rodgers marriages to your surname, that may be
lurking in your files, that you would share for the database.

Ah Gregg, we aren't gonna flame ya! I'm still trying to absorb all this.
I know the dates aren't quite coming together. And I'm afraid I'm not an
authority by any means.
I have just started working on this line, and it was my intent to try to
do some fact finding when I also found myself becoming a "Mom", LOL!
I like seeing this kind of posting. It gets things out and in the open
where we all can see it, ponder it, and scratch our heads in perplexity,
waiting for that light bulb to click on, and exchange some feedback.
I'm getting my shovel out and going digging.

Hi Gregg, Those dates also hit me as wrong but as you know transcriptions
can be terrible. I posted this for information only and am glad someone
picked up on the same things that I did. Lets get some real thinking going
here and maybe someone out there has a clue to this.
Marcy
Hi Listers,
Hester Colclough can be found within the Deborah Bowman rootsweb database by
going here:
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=db3222&
id=I2309
The problem here is that her birth year and marriage date are incompatible.
Her marriage is given as 25 SEP 1723, but she is not born until 1725. This
is the general timeframe of the births of her siblings. This would also make
her mother, Rachel, 47 when Hester was born, which is pushing it a little.
And if the 1715 date for the marriage of Benjamin and Rachel is correct,
then I can not see how they would have kids before ABT. 1715, so the
daughter couldn't be old enough to marry in 1723 anyway. I think Joel may be
a common name in that family, so perhaps we have the wrong generation of
Joel Stribling here.
I can find no records of a marriage between a George Colclough and Elizabeth
Thoroughgood. I can, however, find an Elizabeth Thoroughgood who is the
daughter of Adam Thoroughgood and Sarah Offley. I don't think these dates
work either. This Elizabeth Thoroughgood married John Michael (one record)
and Jacob Chandler (another record). She seems to have been born about 1636,
and therefore too old to have been the mother of anyone born in the 1700s.
I can find one Major George Colclough who married an Elizabeth at about the
right time to have had a daughter marry and have kids in the 1720s range.
That was Major George Colclough who married Elizabeth Willoughby, and also
Ursula Bysshe. George, Elizabeth, and Ursula may have all had more, and
perhaps several more, marriages than these. I don't know if this George
Colclough had any kids however.
In an aside that is interesting probably to me only, the George Colclough
that married Elizabeth Willoughby was the the 4th in a succession of
Colcloughs that married Elizabeths. His father Reginald married Elizabeth
Walter, and Reginald's father, George, married Elizabeth Keeling, and George
(the elder) was the son of Bartholomew Colclough, who married Elizabeth
Madely. The interesting thing is that there is another Elizabeth Keeling who
married an Argall Thoroughgood, and had a daughter named...you guessed it,
Elizabeth Thoroughgood. I can find no marriage records for this Elizabeth
Thoroughgood. There is also the Overzee connection; Simon Overzee married a
SARAH Thoroughgood and also Elizabeth Willoughby. This Sarah was the
daughter of Adam Thoroughgood and his wife Sarah.
Remember that these are my opinions only, and that I possess the proofs for
nothing.
I am thinking there must be at least one case of bad dates here. If I have
misrepresented anyone's information, then please feel free to flame me
publicly :)
Cheers,
Gregg
Hello again,
Hope this finds you all well this evening. I found some more notes a sister had given me, with names of who is supposed to be parents of who, or whom. :O)
I have a very relaxed vocabulary.
In my sister's notes she has as Hester's parents, Major George Colclough and Elizabeth Thoroughgood.
Elizabeth's parent's, Capt. Adam Thoroughgood and Sarah Offley.
Sarah's parent's, Robert Offley and Ann Osborne.
Anne's parent's, Sir Edward Osborne and Ann Hewitt. With this is a note saying that Ann's fahter, William Hewitt, was Lord Mayor of London.
There are no dates with any of these names, and I can't swear as to the accuracy. I haven't got this far yet. Any thoughts on this?

Hello List,
Marcy tried to forward this to the list, but it bounced back, so I'm
going to forward it for her. She will be joining us on the list as soon as I
get her added.
Sometime back I was asking if anyone knew about my Hester Colclough. This
is the same one that Marcy mentions here. I also found a few other names on
Hester's line in some notes that my sister gave me that I will post shortly.
Mayhaps someone can help Marcy with this. I'm anxious to see what
develops.
Deah
