I have two Abner Colby's that I'm worried about and I think the genealogy we
have on them is wrong.
(#1) Abner Colby b. 17 Jul 1773 Sandown, Rockingham County, New Hampshire
son of Ebenezer Colby and Lois Elliot
(#2) Abner Colby b. 5 Apr 1773 Canterbury, Merrimack County, New Hampshire
son of Edmund Colby and Mary
Marriage
Abner Colby m 8 Feb 1796 Polly Ford
Abner Colby m 24 Dec 1799 Lydia Sanborn
We have (#1) Abner Colby married to Poly Ford and (#2) Abner Colby married
to Lydia Sanborn. Which is probably incorrect.
Abner Colby and Lydia Sanborn are buried in Sanborn Cemetery, Bristol, New
Hampshire.
Abner's headstone reads d. 15 Oct 1841 (68-2-28). This makes him born 17
Jul 1773.
Conclusion: (#1) Abner married Lydia Sanborn and went to Bridgewater, NH
(#2) Abner married Poly Ford and went to Canada
All children need to be moved with their mothers.
It sure looks like we have the families originally mixed up.
What do you think?
Ron
I have pictures of Abner's and Lydia's headstones if anyone would like a
copy.
