Lorraine Mary Ann (Colby) Dollar
March 6, 1928 - September 19, 2012
Lincoln City - Lorraine Mary Ann (Colby) Dollar; a loving wife, mother, grandmother, a very loving great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on September 19, 2012 at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital in the early evening, at the age of 84. Lorraine was born on March 6, 1928 in Oceanlake, Oregon to Raymond and Stella Colby.
Lorraine enjoyed canning, sewing, knitting and making her special quilts on her quilting machine. She was bookkeeper for 25 years for Superior Welding, Inc. in Battle Ground, WA. Lorraine joined North Lincoln Grange in 1978 in which she was secretary until 1997 also holding offices of Chaplain, Ceres, also secretary for Subordinate and County Granges for 2 years, she was Secretary of North County Historical Society, and belonged to the 50 Union Club. She taught Sunday school at Evangelical Church in Lincoln City and was recorder for Cherry Grove Friends Church in Battle Ground, WA.
Lorraine lived in Battle Ground, WA where she and her husband raised their family until they moved to Lincoln City in the early 70's to the property that they had purchased in the 50's. They made this their home until death.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter Jo Ann May and son-in-law David May; son Rodney Dollar; son Richard Dollar and daughter in-law Connie Dollar, all of Lincoln City, OR; her two sisters Donna Ray Palmer of Bend; and Carol Perkins of Alaska; as well as many nieces and nephews; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Lorraine was preceded in death by husband Ronald Dollar, mother and father Raymond and Stella Colby, son Ronald Dollar Jr., 8 brothers and one sister.
Lorraine will be interred next to her husband at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Donations can be made in her memory to the American Diabetic Association, Hospice Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital or American Bible Association. Arrangements by Farnstrom Mortuary. Lempster, NH-Ruth M. (Gamash) Colby, 80, of School Road, died Saturday, September 22, 2012 at her home. She was born in Newport, NH on November 28, 1931 the daughter of Arthur Lee and Bertha Rose Hannah (White) Gamash. She lived her lifetime in the area and graduated from Towle High School in 1951. Ruth married Roger E. Colby in 1953 and he died in 2009.
She was a courier for Lake Sunapee Bank. Ruth loved to go fishing with Roger. She also liked to knit, crochet, crafts, sewing, wreath making, reading and enjoyed going to baseball games. Most especially she loved to spend the holidays with her family.
She was predeceased by siblings, Donald Gamash, June Leslie, Phyllis Bush and Cynthia Hansen.
Members of her family surviving include her daughter, Debbie Wirkkala and her husband, Glenn of Lempster, NH; a grandson, Nicholas Wirkkala and his wife, Jessica; a great grandson, Paxton all of Winchester, NH; and a sister, Lucille Duffey of Sunapee, NH; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 from 6-7 P.M.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Newport.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lempster Rescue, c/o Lempster Firefighter Association, P.O. Box 76, Lempster, NH 03605 or Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association, P.O. Box 2209, New London, NH 03257.

DEATH OF AN OLD CHICAGON
Uriah J. Colby Passes Away at His West Side Home.
Uriah J. Colby, an old resident of Chicago, died at his home, No. 358 South Paulina streets, yesterday. The funeral will take place from the family residence this morning at 10 o'clock. The remains will be taken to Aledo, Ill., for interment.
[Uriah J. Colby was born Jan. 21, 1836, at Tameth, N.H. His father was a Methodist minister and removed to Maine, where Mr. Colby's boyhood was spent. In 1864 Mr. Colby came to Chicago and resided in this city up to the time of his death. He was a member of the Board of Trade for twenty-nine years. He was one of the charter members of the Apollo club and a communicane of the Episcopal Church. He married Miss Allie Ransom of Chicago in 1873. Mr. Colby had two sisters and two brothers residing in Portland, Me. He leaves a widow and two sons.]

Mark J. Colby

DUDLEY, N.C. - Mark J. Colby, 49, passed away Sept. 5, 2012, following a yearlong illness.
Mark was born in Concord on Oct. 16, 1962, to Constance Smart Colby and the late Halstead Colby. He attended Bow schools and was a graduate from Concord High School.
In 1984 he joined the Air Force. He received many medals and awards during his career, and became Chief Master Sergeant in March 2000 and retired in 2004.
Mark is predeceased by his sister Kelly and his father. Halstead (Sam) Colby. He leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley, sister Jami, brothers Kurt and Scott, stepmother, Carole, and his mother, Connie.
A committal and burial will be private at a later date.

Herbert Colby
Herbert Colby, 79, Naples, Fla., formerly of East Moline, IL, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997.
Services were held Oct. 3 at Johnson-Pittman Funeral Home, Naples. Memorials may be made to The First Presbyterian Church of East Moline or the Knox College Scholarship Fund, Galesburg.
Mr. Colby retired in 1983 as the vice president of Southeast National Bank, Moline. He moved from East Moline to Naples 13 years ago.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Betty; his children and their spouses, Virginia and Peter Darby, William and Kelly Colby, and Victoria and Patrick Liston; seven grandchildren; a brother, Avard Colby; sisters-in-law, Katherine Edstrom and Donna Laughead, both of Rock Island; and a niece, Mary Linda Prester. He was preceded in death by brothers, William, Ralph, Oliver and Claude Colby, and a sister, Ruth Looker.
