Hi Colby descendents I am posting a recent estate find on Ebay. An antique photo album which includes a funeral card for Obadiah Colby. I'm assuming the rest of the photos are his relatives but they are unmarked.

Thank you so much for sending this message. I learned of Wilson's passing from Ron Colby more than two months ago, but no one seemed to know any details. Wilson was one of my mentors many years ago when I began online exploration of my Colby family heritage.

I am Wilson's daughter by his second marriage, not related to Colbys. We believed he passed away August 4, 2011. He was found August 14, 2011. He apparently had a heart attack and he died alone. We were not notified until some weeks later. He was cremated and laid to at the National Military Cemetery in AZ. There was no obituary. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Subject: Colby Cemetery
Hello,
In answer to your question, Levi Colby bought 80 acres of land from John and Persilla Smith from the SE 1/4 of Section 35 in Mark Township, Defiance County, Ohio and from that 80 acres, he kept back one acre as a cemetery. Levi then transferred this tract via his will to Francis Durfey, et. all (probably his dtr and siblings.) On Feb. 14, 1899, Hattie Bernard (perhaps a dtr) transferred another 3/4 of an acre to enlarge the cemetery. The cemetery is an old one and many tombstones are missing or broken. Quite a number of Civil War soldiers from that township are buried there, including R. R. Durfey, who may or may not be relation to the Colbys.
I could find no Colbys buried there, according to our transcription book, but again, many tombstones are unreadable or missing. I did find that many Colbys were buried in Old Riverside Cemetery in Defiance Township, including: Almira H., Edwin B. George C., George Forrest, Dr. Jonas, Dr. Levi and Willie.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Dianne

Lucius Colby was my great grandfather. His father Uriah Colby was my
great-great grandfather. I have most of the information on him except for
his date of death. I know it was in 1871, but not the date. I also have
information about Uriah's second wife Livonia and her family. She was
Jennie's mother. You can contact me directly at woodworker(a)cfu.net
