COLBY FAMILY & OTHERS:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~colby/
Ron,
Minerva Colby is in my family line.
Here parents are: William C. Hills and Phoebe Jennings. I don't know any other particulars on her family line.
Isaac Farres Colby is my 2nd great-grandfather.
This is all that I have:
COLBY, JAMES married
HILLS, MINERVA
10/02/1882 UNION County, IL
My notes:
James E. Colby Minnie Hills 2 Oct 1882 5-277
(The groom was 31, an attendant at the asylum in Anna, born in Carlinville, Ill., son of I.F. and Margret (Bisco) Colby. This was his first marriage. The bride was 27, from Anna, born in New York City, daughter of William C. and Phoebe (Jennings) Hills. This was her first marriage.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Family sheets indicates that James was a pharmacist. On February 7th 1895, James B. Colby and Minnie Colby, his wife granted his share of his father's and mother's land to William Moelz. Their address was listed on the warranty deed as, City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, California. James was 44 years old in 1895.
I don't know if this is the same person:

Sure! No problem!
She was born 14 April 1855 in New York and that is her death date. She
married James Eli Colby, son of Isaac Farrar Colby and Margaret Biscoe.
After she died, he married Margaret Jane Ludwick.
I think they lived in Pasadena.

National Archives opens new facility in St. Louis
The Associated Press
Posted Oct 14, 2011 @ 06:37 AM
WASHINGTON -- Elvis Presley, Charles Lindbergh, John Coltrane and Jackie Robinson all have something in common in St. Louis.
Their military records are now on file in the National Archives' new $115 million facility opening Saturday. The National Personnel Records Center is one of 44 Archives sites across the country and houses millions of files for those who served in the military and civil service.
The records include open files on more than 500 "Persons of Exceptional Prominence."
Archives spokeswoman Susan Cooper says the St. Louis facility will be its largest outside of Washington. It is often visited by veterans and their families seeking military files. The National Archives at St. Louis receives as many as 5,000 requests a day
An exhibit is open at the facility through March.

anyone know who these Colby's are?
Growing up in a musical family made Liza Colby determined to do something
else, but escaping wasn't that easy.
Colby, 27, an Avon native whose father John Colby composed the theme for
"Sports Center" on ESPN and whose mother Beverly Colby sang with the
Persuasions, was in college studying to be a corporate event planner when it
dawned on her how much she missed music.
"Being away from constant music and creative people in a creative
environment because of my parents made me realize this was something I had
to do," she says by phone from New York, where she lives know, before
returning to Hartford for a performance tonight with her band, the Liza
Colby Sound. It's a rock 'n' group that draws on the sound of '60s and '70s
rock, with a dose of gritty soul thrown in for good measure

Del,
Thank you. Trying to once and for all see if the Margaret Sommerville that married Jonas is the daughter of a great great grandfather or not. Lots of similarities but nothing I have seen that would be proof.
