Gertrude G. Colby
SAUGUS, Mass. -- Gertrude G. "Trudy" (Greenlaw) Colby, 91, died April 15, 2010, in Winchester Hospital after a short illness.
She was born in Oceanville, Maine, April 22, 1918, to Howard and Nettie H. (Haskell) Greenlaw.
She was educated in the Oceanville and Stoningham, Maine, school systems. She continued her education in Boston and later became a legal secretary.
In 1943, she married Elgin M. Colby and settled in Hillsborough, N.H., where they started their family. The couple shared 19 years together until Elgin's passing at the age of 51.
She was employed with Stone & Webster in Boston, Hillsboro Hosiery Mills in Hillsborough, Manchester Hosiery Mills of Manchester, N.H., and The New Hampshire Insurance Company. She later worked for the law firm Wyman, Bean, Tefft of Manchester, and the John Roy Legal Firm of Manchester.
Family members include daughter Sandra J. Colby.
IN HER LIFE: Trudy's working career lasted over 46 years until her retirement. Unable to sit still at home, she worked for the local AARP office locating jobs for members of the organization. Trudy was a longtime member of the Eastern Star, Portia Chapter, of Hillsborough.
In her spare time, Trudy enjoyed reading, working on her computer and computer games. She also loved working a good crossword puzzle, cooking and traveling. Some of her travels had taken her to Australia, England, Alaska, and the Panama Canal. She enjoyed her trip on the Princess Cruise Line's Polynesian and Hawaiian cruise and down to the Caribbean Islands.
She was preceded in death by her loving siblings, Arthur, Wyman, Selena, Basil and Harold Greenlaw.
SERVICES: Visitation and funeral were yesterday in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, Mass. Burial will be at a later date in the Maplewood Cemetery, Antrim, N.H.

George Washington Colby
George W. Colby, 78, of Clinton Township, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007. He was born March 12, 1929, in Louisville, Ky.
Mr. Colby served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Valerie DuChateau on June 24, 1950, at St. Veronica Catholic Church in East Detroit. The couple first made their home in Roseville before moving in 1968 to Clinton Township. He was the owner of Colby Carpentry in Clinton Township, where he still worked with his son as a builder and carpenter. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, motor cross racing, and entertaining family and friends. His family said he will be remembered for his laughing and joking personality, and will be deeply missed by the many he touched in his lifetime.
Mr. Colby is survived by his wife, Valerie; sons, Martin (Dianne), Kevin and Henry (Kristen) Colby; grandchildren, Jason (Melanie), Paul and Sophia Colby, and Shelby, Dillan and Stephanie Jones; great-grandchildren, George and Corbin; sisters, Martha VanRyckeghen and Betsy Cook; and brothers, James (Demarus) and William Colby.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Edna (Cummins) Colby Sr.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ronald Catholic Church, Clinton Township. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser. Additional visitation is 10-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

Charles L. Colby Jr.
HAVERHILL - Charles L. Colby Jr., 85, a lifelong resident of Bradford, passed away Monday morning, April 12, 2010 at the Lawrence General Hospital.
He was born in Bradford on April 11, 1925, son of the late Charles L. and Mina (Peabody) Colby.
He was educated in the Haverhill schools and was employed in local machine shops for several years. He spent most of his career at Raytheon, retiring as supervisor in 1990 after 37 years.
He enjoyed summers at his camp on Silver Lake in Madison, N.H. and adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy H. (Robertson) Colby and father of the late Charles L. Colby III. He is survived by his daughters, Deborah A. and her husband Ronald Fraza of Plaistow, and Pamela L. and her husband David Arel of Salisbury; sisters, Virginia Blaser of Bradford and Doris Terry of Newburyport; grandchildren, Melisa and her husband Daren Morneau, Ian Colby, Justine Colby, Elizabeth Fraza, Eric Fraza, Victoria Fraza-Kickham and her husband Michael Kickham, David Arel and his wife Susan and Daniel Arel and his wife Megan; eight great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his graveside service on Wednesday, April 14 at 11 a.m. at the family lot on Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Bethany Community Services, 10-12 Phoenix Row, Haverhill, MA 01830.

WARREN B. COLBY
AUG 8, 1921 - MAR 18, 2010
Warren B. Colby passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday March 18th.
He is survived by his loving wife Dolores of 63 years, their 5 children Susan (Bruce), Michael (Donna), Kathleen, David (Leesa) and Anna, 10 grandchildren Gregory, Jeffrey, Ken, Ryan, Shevaun, Jesse, Shannon, Chris, Katie and Chelsea, and 7 great grandchildren, and his loving sister Betty.
Warren was born [8 Aug 1921] in Courtland, CA. grew up with twin sisters and helped out on the pear farm.
He served in the US Navy during WWII.
Retired after 38 years with Pacific Bell Telephone Company (Ma Bell as he would say). He then went into the trucking business, driving tanker and permanently retired after 7 years.
The memorial/open house is Saturday April 10th from 12:00 to 4:00 at Son's home (Michael and Donna Colby). In lieu of flower, donations may be made to Optimal Hospice Care or St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Modesto.
