LAKE PLACID — Dorothy Colby, 74, of 74 Sentinel Road, Lake Placid, died Friday, January 14, 2000 at the Adirondack Medical Canter, Saranac Lake. She was born in Brattleboro, Vt., March 7, 1925, the daughter of Hillard and Julia (Daha) Hayes.
She had been a resident of Lake Placid since 1944. Her husband, James F. Colby passed away in Lake Placid, November, 1979. Mrs. Colby is survived by four sons; James M., Thomas P., Donald M., and Hayes Colby all of Lake Placid. She is also survived by two daughters and their husbands, Deborah and Frederick Betters and Nancy and Michael Scott, both of Lake Placid. There are also three sisters-in-laws, Phyllis Colby, Barbara Colby and Louis* Hayes; thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday morning, January 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid with the Rev. James Borley officiating. Burial will be in the North Elba Cemetery. The family requests that donations in her memory may be made to the Lake Placid Ski Jumpers, c/o Mr. Larry Stone, Olympic Ski Jump, 8 John Brown Road, Lake Placid NY 12946 or the Skating Club of Lake Placid c/o Mrs. Barbara Kelly, 46 Forest St. Lake Placid, Ny 12946.

Dorothy married second 11 Sep 1927 to Ernest A. Colby of Amesbury. She was
aged 30 years, divorced. He was aged 41 years, first marriage, born

Helena Lusanski Colby, 77, of Rogue River, died Saturday (July 19, 2003) at her home. No service is planned.
She was born May 25, 1926, in Kiev, Ukraine.
Mrs. Colby was a nurse. She moved to the Rogue Valley 12 years ago.
She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.
Survivors include a son, Steven, Santa Clarita, Calif.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Susan Clawson; and a son, Larry.

ROCHESTER - Clyde F. Stetson Jr., 82, of 25 Vernon Ave., died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at the Frisbee Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
Born Dec. 12, 1916, in Rochester, he was the son of the late Clyde Sr. and Mildred (Herson) Stetson.
He was a lifelong resident of Rochester.
He was employed as a construction worker and foreman for Spaulding Fiber in Gonic. He was U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and The 40 & 8.
Members of his family include his son, Peter Stetson of Rochester; a sister, Eleanor Cook of Rochester; five grandchildren, Jarlene Hatfield of Rochester, Norma Permenta of Maine, Patricia Nichols of Maine, Angela Morrison of Rochester, and Jennifer Bailey of Farmington.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne C. (Colby) Stetson in 1981, and a daughter, Ann Dorsey, in 1978.

Robert Colby
LEBANON, Maine - Robert L. Colby, 54, of Long Swamp Road, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, Sept. 20, 1998 at Frisbie Hospital in Rochester.
He was born in Sanford on February 7, 1944, a son of Louis and Edna (Thompson) Colby.
He attended Sanford schools, and was a graduate of Sanford High School, where he was a state champion wrestler.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Kim Colby; three sons, Michael Colby and Casey Colby, all of Lebanon, and Walter Colby of Berwick; a daughter, Amber Colby of Lebanon; his mother of Lebanon; two grandchildren; several brothers and sisters.

EXETER - Iva B. Grant, 83, of 7 Riverwoods Drive, died June 29, 1997 at the Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro.
Born Sept. 18, 1913 in Haverhill, Ma. she was the daughter of Harry W. and Grace (Foisy) Colby.
Mrs. Grant lived on Piscassic Road, Newfields for many years, before moving to Marshall Farms, Exeter and most recently to Riverwoods.
She devoted her life to her family, and the family-operated business, The Kingston-Warren Corp. in Newfields.
She was a member and devoted patron of the Newfields Community Church.
Her husband, Herbert A. Grant, died in 1986.
Survivors include her son, Herbert A. Grant Jr. of Rye; her daughter, Mrs. William (Barbara) Chick of Newfields; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Colby of Haverhill, Mass.; a sister, Charlene Bradley of Miami, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers and a sister.

RAYMOND - Marjorie Eleanor Colby, 74, of Lane Road, died Thursday, April 24, 1997, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Colby was born on April 18, 1923 in Rutland, Vt., the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Moore) Whitney.
She lived 20 years in Glens Falls, N.Y., where she worked as a certified nurse's aide and also as a nanny. She had lived in Raymond for the past three months.
Her husband, Carlton Colby, died in 1993.

Harold Colby Sr.
LEBANON, Maine - Harold P. Colby Sr., 58, of 292 North Rochester Road died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.
Born July 9, 1945, in Boise, Idaho, he was the son of Doug and Yvonne (Sharkey) Colby.
He attended Rochester, N.H., public schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966 and served in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge he worked in the construction field until 1981 when he began working for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was an outside machinist and active union member serving as vice president and president of the Machinist's Union Local 836. After his retirement he drove a school bus for School Administrative District 60 for several years and most recently worked for Robbins Auto Parts.
Because of his love for children, especially his own and his grandchildren, he was dedicated to participating in all their activities. He was a Little League coach and umpire, and a Boy Scout leader for many years in Lebanon. He worked tirelessly to support these groups and shared many memorable moments through the years. He was a very popular bus driver for several years in Lebanon. In recent years he developed a love for miniature horses that he shared with his wife, grandchildren and many good friends. He enjoyed showing them at N bar H and served that club as vice president and as an active member supporting the club.
Harold will be sadly missed by his family and many friends who were fortunate enough to enjoy his kindness, generosity and sense of humor that prevailed throughout his illness. These include his wife of 33 years, Donna (Page) Colby of Lebanon; two sons, Harold P. Colby Jr. and his wife Rachel of Sanford, Timothy Colby and his fiancée Nicole Janzen of Lebanon, and his beloved grandchildren, Shelby, Darren, Trenton and Kendall. He is also survived by his mother, Yvonne Colby; five sisters, Linda Mattress and her husband John, Joyce Williams, Alice Sequra, Diane Cullen, and Gloria Colby; three brothers, John and Charles Colby, and William Colby and his wife Joanne, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Doug Colby, a brother-in-law, Joseph Williams, and a niece, Bonnie Jo Williams.
He and his family are very thankful for the outstanding care and kindness given them at Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Life Plus and Visiting Nurses Service of Maine whose help allowed him to remain at home through most of his illness.

PORTSMOUTH - Rosalie (Greenough) Colby, 68, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, in Portsmouth, from complications resulting from a prolonged illness.
Mrs. Colby was born on June 9, 1929 in Manchester, the daughter of the late M. James and Helen (McAllaster) Greenough.
She graduated from the Webster School in Manchester, Dana Hall in Wellesley, Mass., and then attended Wheelock College in Boston.
Mrs. Colby was a longtime resident of Peterborough. She was a volunteer at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough.
Members of the family include her husband, James Tracy Colby Jr. of Portsmouth; three sons, James Tracy Colby III of Darien, Conn., Christopher J. Colby of Saunderstown, R.I., and Michael M. Colby of Bonita Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren; and a sister, Judith (Greenough) Udaloy of New Castle.

Dulock, Ruby H. Perry, MI Age 84, died Thursday, November 27, 2003 at the
Shiawassee Medical Care Facility. Mrs. Dulock was born in Perry Township,
April 13, 1919 to Hugh & Grace (Bentley) Beebe. Ruby grew up in Perry and
attended the Perry High School. She was married to Russell Colby then to
John Dulock who predeceased her in 1984. After marrying John she moved to
Big Rapids for 30 years, returning to Perry for the last 14 years. She was
very active in the Morrice Senior Center, past board member of SCOA and
loved the outdoors where she liked to hunt and fish. Mrs. Dulock was Head
Clerk at Big Rapids Department Store and also worked as a Telephone Operator
in Owosso. Surviving her are 3 children: son, William (Betty) Colby of
Perry, daughter, Vicki (Dale) Williams of Bancroft, daughter, Connie (Glen)
Hubbard of Perry; 11 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 1 great great
grandchild; sister, Mrs. Alvie (Ruth) Smith of Clare. She was predeceased by
her husbands, parents and son, Russell, Jr. (1952). Funeral Services will be
held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Perry on Monday, December 1, 2003 at
1:00 PM with Deacon Mike Barrett officiating. Interment Roselawn Cemetery,
Perry. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-3 & 7-9 PM. Memorials
suggested to Morrice Senior Center.
I meant to tell you that if you have several people that need to look at
the same records, split the cost. Have them sent to one person and they can
either scan or Xerox all the pages and send to the next person. This is a
good way to get all the information and it not be so expensive .. also
allows checking for men who 'may' be related.

There are Civil War records and pensions available, and depending on what
kind of pension (invalid & widow are the best as they had to prove their
relationship or injury). If you have the numbers, you can write to NARA in
DC (it takes about 3 months). I use a lady who lives near DC to get them
for me. If you only have one, the expense is a wash, but if you have up to
4, then she can really save you money. One of the major reasons I use her
is that she gets the information in about a week. Since she is a
genealogist, she is very good about not copying things that are of no value.
She found a picture in one of mine ... it was great.
The forms are on the http://www.nara.gov site.

Subject: Theodore Colby and Mary Hauser
I am seeking information on Theodore Colby and Mary Hauser Who married in
1867. He died in Chambersburg PA in 1896. They had three daughters: Mary,
b. (?) who married John Carpenter - Josephine b. 28 Aug 1879, m to Mason
Parker Herron in Chambersburg 1896 and she died in Los Angeles County in
1950 - Nellie (maybe Helen) S. born about 1870.
Josephine had two children, William C. Herron and Helen C. Herron - that is
according to her death announcement. She also had a sister Mrs. F. D.
Dietzer (probably Nellie or Helen).
Any additional info on this family will be appreciated.
