Jorge Leon from Spain marries a Mary Taylor of MA in MA. They have 4-6 children: George, Lydia, Katherine, John and Mary Eliza. I have been researching George's line. George came to CA in the 1850s, some of the descendants end up in San Francisco, and San Jose.
I decided to start working on his siblings' lines. I found Kate married to a John Penney with their daughter Nellie in San Francisco. Nellie marries a Henry Henrioulle in 1891 per SF Call database.
Lydia marries a James T. Colby, and their children are Mary Key and Ella (according to the 1880 census) in San Jose. Ella marries a Joseph 'Joe' Klein in Santa Clara County in 1887 and their children are Mildred and Leon. Leon dies in San Jose in 1912 and according to family tradition he died of a motorcycle accident.
I have much to share if any of this sounds familiar.

I am still trying to find the parents for my 3rd great-grandfather Lucius H. Colby who was born in 1822 at Goshen, CT and married Rosetta F. Perkins in 1835 at Bethany, CT.
They removed to Auburn, New York which is in the Fingerlakes. Where he died in 1894
I descend from their son Frank E. Colby who was born in Groton, Tompkins County - New York in 1852.
Any help along this line I would be most THANKFUL

Do you have any further information? Like dates? I have a Hiland Colby born in 1823 in Holland New York. His father was Alvin and his sisters Belinda and Eleanor. I don't have any further on them than that. Hope it helps!
I have an Edgar Colby with a brother named Walter. They are children of
Alfred Colby and Adeline Chase Colby. I don't have any thing further on
them, except that they were born in New Hampshire, Walter in 1871 and Edgar
abt 1880. Let me know if this is a match, please?

Hi,
I am looking for Edgar and Margaret Sharpe Colby, my grandfather and
grandmother from Lowell, MA. Edgar came from Amherst, New Hampshire I
believe. They had three girls, Bertha, Elizabeth and Grace.
My grandmother Margaret Sharpe Colby died in May 1942 and my grandfather
died much earlier in the 1920's I believe.
He came from a large family, around 9 and Edgar Colby was his brother who
had a son Ronald, I thought there was a connection.
He had another brother Walter Colby. Who had a daughter Patricia. If you
wouldn't mind I'd like you to forward this information to other branches of
Colby's.
Thanks,
Debbie Underwood

Has anyone come across any information on this family? Hylon and Amelia (Hunt) had four children Augustus, Estella, Lillian and Emma. I have found information that they lived in Delaware and Lake County, Indiana. They also lived in Holland, Erie County, New York early in their marriage. I am most interested in what happened to Estella.
I am looking for any information regarding this family. Hylon and Amelia
(Hunt) Colby. They lived in Indiana and had four children: Augustus, a
teamster; Esteela, wife of Hilles Irey; Lillian, wife of John Price and
Emma. She was a spiritualist lecturer. We believe that Hylon and Amelia
divorced and Hylon married Sarah Bundrant. Amelia may have remarried. So
far no information has surfaced about the children and their whereabouts.
Thanks for any information.

Subject: Re: Timothy Colby
Ron,
Could you review this and forward to the website as appropriate.
I am looking to connect a Colby line out of New Hampshire and Wisconsin:
Specifically, Nathan Colby's origins.
Nathan Colby b. abt 1805, first found in the census of Stewartstown, Coos
Co., New Hampshire, m. Hannah Terril about 1844, she was born in
Canterbury, Merrimac Co. New Hampshire. They are still in Stewartstown at
the time of the 1850 census. He notes his parents were both from New
Hampshire. Nathan and Hannah have the following children:
Nathan Colby Jr. b. abt 1826
Timothy Colby b. abt. 1832
Hannah Colby b. abt 1835
Mary Ann Colby b. abt 1841
Lloyd Hazen Colby b. abt 1846
At the time of the 1860 census they are living in Columbia Co., Wisconsin
Hannah died between 1860 & 1870, thereafter in 1870 & 1880 Nathan is found
living with his daughter and son-in-law Merrill Johnson and Hannah Colby
Johson in Columbia Co., Wisc.
Timothy (b. abt. 1832) married Elizabeth Young and, after her death
Elizabeth Williams.
Timothy's family lines are well documented at Rootsweb.com and other sites.
Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Ron,
I should of passed this before, but it's sat on my hard disk for a long
time.
A couple of years ago I visited the Church Street in what is now Merrimac,
MA and photographed all the Colby, Chase and Clement stones I could find (my
lines). There is a stone there for Alstin G. Colby (spelling on the stone).
The stone is actually a small monument and has lots of info on 3 sides.
Some is hard to read, but here is what I think it says:
West side:
Alstin C. Colby 1821-1868
Sarah his Wife 1820-1850
Susan J. his Wife 1828-1906
North Side:
Sarah E.1842-1862
Lydia A.1844-1847

Or do we have two different family here??
Census seems to support he went to NH.

Subject: Edith F. Hammond, child of John & Florence (Ayer) Hammond
Hi:
I have a friend who has located a photograph of Edith F. Hammond, age 5
years, taken by F. A. Dow, a professional photographer who was in business
here in Concord, NH.
We would like to see that the photograph gets into the hands of her
family and I am wondering if you might be able to give me a name to contact
to see if they might like to have this beautiful old photograph of Edith, as
a child of 5.
The photograph was found in central Illinois by a great lady who also
knows the importance of long lost or new found photographic likenesses
which
add so much to ones family history.
If you might be able to help me with this, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Ruth L. Speed

I hope you are still around, cuz I descend from Philander Colby m. Rachel Ferguson.
Philander had a brother named Ebenezer. They lived in Ridgetown, Ontario. I have alot of interesting information on their escapades there.
Looking to identify this Melvin Colby:
