Sorry, Ron,
I left your previous message regarding your offer to do lookups on
the New 1880 census index release at the bottom of my post just
sent....everyone else please ignore the bottom half of that
Post..I'll get my act together eventually. Just need the E.D. from
Soundex cards for Elmer Colby.
Thanks and my apologies please.
Marjorie
Hi list members,
Could someone please check the 1920 soundex Index/list for :
Elmer Colby 35 Chicago Cook co., IL
Helen A. Colby 37? wife "
Harold B.Colby 13 son
Evelyn Colby 9 daughter
This family was living with Elmer's aunt and uncle, John B. Nosbaum
and Helen M. (Colby) Nosbaum at 4316 West Adams St., Chicago, IL.
I had someone make copies of the soundex cards for them from
microfilm but the copies are so dark that it is impossible to
determine the Enumeration District.
Any help would be most appreciated. If I can get that E.D. number I
can look them up on-line.
Thanks in advance,
Marjorie Colby
Hi all
While out and about yesterday, I stopped by the LDS Distribution center
and picked up their new release of the 1880 Federal Census.
There are 5607 Colbys listed in the index.
Will do look ups for those wishing such.
Give me as much info all possible so I get the right family.
Here is a example of Eri Colby and family

Well its good to see that William lived long enough to collect a pension. I
was worried about the comment being " Left on the road".
I found another William Colby who was a CPT at Vicksburg. I dont have his
lineage but heres the link.

Look at the big blue picture of the Marker for Landrams Brigade. The Odd
thing about this is that Carlos Colby got the Medal of Honor at the same time
and place but his memoirs never mention anything about it.
Glenn Colby
I'm descended through this William Colby of NH. I have a transcript of his
Rev. War pension application of 1818; great reading! His father,
Philbrook/Philbrick Colby also Rev. War Vet. Rest of their line of ascent:
Joseph (1860-1753)>John "Sargeant" Colby 1656-1719>John Colby
633-1673/74>Anthony Colby Abt. 1605-1659/60.
Theophilus Colby is also listed and is a brother of Philbrick/Philbrick Colby
This information was sent to me by Glenn Colby
This John Colby is s/o Enoch Colby and Abigail Blaisdell
Here is the Valley Forge web site.
http://www.nps.gov/vafo/home.htm
Has searchable muster roll.
There is 7 other Colbys listed, anyone know who they may be.
