Is this Jonathan Colby b. 5 Oct 1769 Haverhill, MA s/o Ephraim Colby &

Cousins!
Cousins!
Colbys are special! So, I'm giving a 10% discount to all my cousins. If
the surname "COLBY" appears in your pedigree within the first 8
generations - you qualify!
If you have been working on your family history, you probably have many more
lines than just your Colby line. And pretty soon it is hard to keep track
of them all. And, if you try to show it to someone, they get glassy-eyed as
you turn the pages. There is now a better way!
Check out my web site at www.genealogycharts.homestead.com. You can see one
of these in YOUR HOME! Right?! Go ahead - look at it.

Any help for him?

Subject: [COLBY] Colby's in Illinois
Hello Cousins,
I need some help on this. I have requested info before on Lucia Alice
Colby, and appreciate all the help given; but dates and places did not pan
out for me. Since then, I have found more information, but am stuck.
Trying to find the correct Ebenezer Colby is quite a challenge. HELP!
My grandmother: Lucia Alice Colby, b. 5/21/1879, in Chicago. D.2/14/1961
Compton, Los Angeles, CA.
Married: Elmer Eugene Prescott, b. 10/2/1871, Guilford, Maine
d. 4/23/1945, Cheyenne, WY
Lucia's parents were:
Lucien Elfonso Colby, b. 10/7/1850, Nashua, NH
d. 3/17/1907, Chicago, IL
Married: Margaret J Hamilton, 6/1/1858, Chicago, IL
Lucien's parents were:
John V Colby, b. <1827, NH
Married: Frances Dorothy Clark, 1/29/1847, Hopkinton, NH
Children: Fredric A Colby, b. 4/28/1848, Nashua, NH
Lucien E Colby, b. 10/7/1850, Nashua, NH
Frank W Colby, b. 5/20/1856, NH
Emily Frances Colby, b. 7/29/1858, Manchester, NH
Edward L Colby, b. 1/21/1859, Galesburg, Knox, IL
Helen Mar Colby, b. 10/12/1861, Galesburg, IL
John V Colby's parents were:
Abner Colby and Deborah Gunnison.
I believe Abner Colby was the son of Ebenezer Colby and Lois Elliot, but
need verification.
Frances Dorothy Clarks parents were Jonathan Clark and Eliza Farrington.
One of my thoughts was: I have found the names: Lucia Alice, or Alice
Lucia, 3 times in the Colby's. Once from Vermont, and once from South
Dakota, then my grandmother. I am wondering if it is a name passed down
through generations or just a mere coincidence.
Anybody have any ideas?

Hi All;
This is to inform all that are planning to attend the Reunion at East
Orange, VT that the location has been changed to Stanstead, Quebec,
Canada, which is one mile across the bordor into Canada from Vermont.
More details will be in the June Colby newsletter.

Hi Shelby
The 'Colby Coat of Arms' that has been floating around for a while is
for the "Beckles" Colby's. So far it has not been connected to our
Lincolnshire Colby's. Brian Colby in California has a very good
rendition of the Beckles arms, along with the colors. The notation on
his is "non ommis frangar". I can send a 'GIF' picture (70k) if you
want it, as an attachment.
Hope this helps.

I am Betty Colby Scott, I have been searching for my g-grandmother for over
three years. Up to last August I I did not even know where my grandfather was
born. At the Colby reunion I met Alice Colby Volkert and she was able to give
me information on my family. My line goes back to Anthony Colby. My
g-grand-father was George Colby son of James & Katherine Colby, he was born
in New London, NH July 1.1821. Who he married is unknown, they had my
grandfather George H> Colby born May 10, 1860. He left home at the age of 17.
Went to Buffalo, NY. He met and married Anna Robson June 23, 1883. That is
were my line starts. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Subject: Re: Eben Colby
According to my records, Eben was born in 1788. I did find an Eben born
in Manchester, VT that date last night at the Family History Center.
There were several Ebens listed that were married to Abigail Willey.
My information is as follows:
Eben Colby born 16 Oct 1788 (Portage NY?). No date of death.
Married Abigail Hurd Willey 3 Mar 1811. AHW born 19 Jan 1791. Died 11
Nov 1856.
Daughters: Rachel Horatio Colby and Almira Colby aka Myra Colby Bradwell
(the information you sent about MCB confirms my information.) I wasn't
aware of the other siblings.
Moved from NY to Chicago around 1843.
This information was obtained from a family history of Isaac Willey and
descendents. Isaac Willey arrived in Boston in 1640. The location of
the Willey Family in England was not noted.
Thank you very much for your assistance. It is very exciting to find out
new information.
